dooflip Posted 9 February Posted 9 February Just to be clear, I’m not overly impressed with the Gerrard links, and he wouldn’t be my choice. BUT I do think he would be a better appointment than Martin. My main box that needed ticking for our next manager was “Not Russell Martin” I would have similar worries to many about it being gerrard. But one little bit of hope/positivity is that when he took the rangers job they were a mess. I watched a video and read some stuff where he was really getting into them and making them/teaching them to press and run. I think that is an element that we desperately need. I feel like if we were a bit more energetic, showed a bit of hunger and fight despite lacking quality, it would help. 2

I think everyone’s clueless which is why there’s no hot favourite. When the odds go to 1/2 or 4/7 or shorter you will know there’s more than a rumour. Potter when 10/11 or just odds on before it eventually went to Cooper, the offer was there for him but he turned it down as we know.

My original point was someone (don't know if it was you) saying Martin had success and discounting Gerrard when hes also had success at the same club Martin has been at, the club he failed at and got sacked. Either way you cant just take one set of achievements when you feel like it and ignore the other one. I don't want Gerrard but I wish people would at least be fair in their assessment.
