Woo-hoo.

The 2 day test format on a mad pitch has cost Cricket Australia bundles so I'd expect it to be a bit flatter in Sydney.

Buzzing for the fans who were there.

Just frustrating as it shows this could have been a really great series if England had made the right squad picks and prepared better.

If we somehow win in Sydney it’ll only ask questions of Perth and Brisbane and will go some way to condoning Bazball

A whitewash may have been preferable 😂

Ha! No matter how I might feel about the ECB, I'll take any win over the Aussies. Can't stand losing to them.

The fans and best cricket journos will still remember what a shambles this tour has been overall.

Predictably embarrassing stuff from the team and bbc coverage, both of whom are carrying on like we've just won the urn back.

Really? Stokes and Root said its bittersweet. They've won for the first time in 15 year i think they're allowed a moment.

Not to the perennially negative.

And btw if Pakistan or West Indies put up a pitch like that you get calls to throw them out of the ICC.

Agree on this. India get a load of stick for this sort of stuff. I really dont think CA do themselves many favours. They bemoan the BCCI for their model and they've produced shit tips for the last 3-4 years as their batting has gone to shit.

Good to finally get a win and the bowlers again did their job well again including Carse who bounced back well after some tricky spells .

Also nice to see the top order and particularly Bethell score well to set up the win .

Obviously not ideal having another two days teat though and fans missing out .

In any case, absolutely insane match that, you would think the ICC will be giving the grounds team a tap on the shoulder about the pitch.

Clearly doesn't come anywhere close to making up for the lack of taking opportunities up until now, but it's good to finally get on the board in Aus after 15 years and three totally barren tours.

If it were one of the first three Tests or even if we could still draw the series, I'd agree. But this was a dead rubber, the result is meaningless. Half their team were out and they were pissing about - they sent Boland out to open the batting ffs.

I'll say well done to the bowlers though, they played an excellent game individually and as a unit, notwithstanding the comments about the pitch.

Although wasn’t that as night watchman due to there not being much time left in the day ?

They seemed to play a lot of poor shots in both innings which didn’t help them .

Madness, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Can't be good for test cricket. Most iconic test venue shouldn't be having two day tests.

Don't think there is a 5-0 difference between the sides so good to avoid that and when you consider what happened in Perth, we should be looking at a Sydney decider.

The whole frustration with the England performances is that the Australians have been understrength and the best players are aging. It’s not that England are bad, it’s that we’re cultish and dumb. We’re good enough to win the next test too.
