It was also in a competition that we realistically had no chance of winning and one that has seen declining attendances across the board in recent years.

And it’s not just included in the season ticket as in already paid for.

Surely it couldn't have been as low as that- home ends looked at least half full on average, so would have expected somewhere between 17-20k

I would've said the home ends looked well under half full.   I would guess 14,000 to 15,000.  Who knows?

But we'll never know for certain, unless someone who really knows the accurate figure, spills the beans.

Has the fanbase ever been so divided? Literally nothing to do with the club can be deemed positive and it all comes down to the "leadership group".

When will the happy clappers (cult members) understand that we've done it your way for years and this is where it's taken us. Why not try to challenge the club for its failure? That's a true fan imo

Agree. Didn't see an area of home stands that was more than half full. Many considerably less than half full. I think the 12.5K figure is not a million miles out

I’ve seen some of the loyalists patting themselves on the back about their Starmer chant….

I don’t even need to know what the chant was but it says it all. Those angry and boycotting are the problem and don’t understand, and of course don’t back the lads. But going along and sitting on your hands apart from a song about the Prime Minister is supporting the lads and helping the club?

Ok….. lol

Clubs at this stage have all had this. Wednesday was divided until the final six months and they still had people turn up to a League Cup tie to which a boycott was called.

Anyone saying the weather.

QPR, FA Cup last season.

Crowd of 28k which did included 4.5k QPR so let’s take off 3k there for comparison sake.

We had 25k for a game played in sub zero temperatures, you couldn’t see the ball, lower league opposition, you had to buy a ticket, under a pretty horrific manager and form.

I think the QPR game was the first game that went to general sale last season so it was always going to be popular regardless of the weather.

There are lots of variables. But I am just establishing that the line about the weather isn't true.

My concern is when this is all over, our support hasn't enjoyed being away too much.

It would be nice to see the ground packed out and backing a backable team again one day lol

Thought it was interesting the lead commentator last night mentioned it before kick off in both halves. Prime viewing time on both occassions.

Yeah without the boycott there's not a chance it would be below 24/25k where as it was about 18/19k I would say.

Where's that then? A Premier League title win, two Championships, an FA Cup and a Community Shield? Not to mention a few European campaigns, including a semi final and a Champions League quarter final?

The failure is down to one man. Rodgers. He got us relegated with a squad of players that no competent manager gets relegated with. Finishing 18th instead of 10th cost us £30m in prize money that season and f**ked PSR for 3 years as a result. Everything that's happened subsequently can be traced back to that. Ironically, that hit drops off the psr calculator next year but is irrelevant because of psr being scrapped.

Oh damn, sorry I was under the assumption Top and Rudkin had the power to sack Rodgers for his failings and general arrogance. Brainwashed!

Apparently Rodgers was also CEO/Director of Football/Chairman and Finance Director all in one. No wonder his severance package was so pricey!

Giving Rodgers too much sway over transfers in Summer 2021 was the original sin but that only happens because under Top's ownership we've been highly reliant on managers to drive strategy and the world class scouting and recruitment built up under Vichai was gradually dismantled after 2018. That's the thread that links Rodgers spending £60m on rubbish, failing to move Tielemans and Soyuncu on and losing them for free, Cooper's obsession with Premier League experience leading to inflated transfer fees for Skipp and Ayew, and the failure to sign a striker in Summer 2025.

Clubs of our size live or die on their recruitment strategy and ours has been atrocious for half a decade. That's on the ownership.
