Too many little fancy flicks and tricks that he must have picked up from Pep's lot, so was on a different wavelength for much of the match today. You can definitely see the potential he has though, and will go onto bigger and better things.

Maybe. He'll have to motivate himself better for games and work harder than that. And yes, when you're in a battle, the last thing you need is a chap strolling about with a fancy flick here and there. We already have 'flair' players that we carry for games on end just so they can add a fifteen second clip to their highlights reel once or twice a month.

Let’s not pile in on the lad. At least he’s trying.

You saw something I didn't. Pedestrian would be kind. And the youth thing is irrelevant. We have nothing to gain from nurturing his talent and even if we did there are no consolation points for fielding children who aren't up to it yet. Of course, youth is something of an excuse for him, but it can't be for us. I agree that we shouldn't pile in on him. We should give him a bollocking and, if he's too 'elite' to take notice, drop him.

Tbf that description could be used for all of the starting 11 except for James and Mavididi.

Too true. Not that any of Mavididi's 'moments' actually amounted to anything. He was relatively alright, which doesn't say much. Not the kind of benchmark a promising teenager with designs on elite level football should be measuring himself again.

If Mukasa wants to make it, then he shouldn't be measuring himself against some of the worst performers in our history. Even the ones who show flashes here and there are at the heart of the cultural problem which, above anything else, is responsible for the most dramatic decline we've ever suffered in a 140+ year history. If Mukasa were a top talent, you'd hope you weren't, regardless of his age, lumping him in with the very lowest of the low.

More than anything, as a player he needs to show he can motivate himself properly. Some of it is down to him bedding in, but more often than not it takes him 30-40 minutes to settle into matches. Even in the Stoke game, when he had a good second half, he was asleep for the first half. It looks to me as if, along with Richards, we've added players with questionable application to a squad whose main problem is questionable application.

Be selective in your comments. Some are. Most aren't and are realists and see the actual picture. I believe you're referring to the happy clapper brigade of a  Dad's Army type of supporter.

I'm not referring to the happy clappers here although they are bizarre themselves.

I'm referring to the fans that are harsher on young players than they are on older ones, despite the younger ones still learning their trade and being on significantly lower wages.

If BCDR and Mukasa are equally not up to standard then I would still rather give leeway to Mukasa who is still learning his trade at this level than persist with BCDR who is supposedly "prem proven" but has shown very little of that even in the Championship and won't get better.

We seem to have more fans like this than other clubs for some reason.

Thought we had ourselves a player who was going to take this club by the scruff of the neck and keep us up after his performance against Stoke.

Doesn't look up for the fight after the last few games.

Yeh, judged as crap, condemned,  binned, lets find the next daka

Never once said he was crap or that he won't be a quality player in the future. They are your extrapolations.

He showed a lot of promise early on and thought he would be a class above the championship. Clearly he hasn't shown that since his first 2 games and he looks pretty lazy in the press and defensive shape.

The rest of the team has also been poor but we already knew they were useless. His drop off has surprised me slightly.

Ultimately he’s not that arsed. Bags of ability but he’s just here for some experience and he’s back at Man City in May. Lacks the intensity and the fight needed in the situation we are in.

Rowett wont play the youngsters because he wants experience yet he continues to play 18 year old Mukasa at the expense of Louis Page 19.

Have we ruined him?

No. He has some talent but he’s not great. Early goals flattered him a bit. Even at the start he was holding on to the ball for too long, but now as more is expected of him he is trying too hard. Sad he’s ultimately set Page’s career back.

What I've learnt over the years is that you can't fully judge players at this club, we're a basket case and players can go on to do very well once they leave us. I thought Justin, Castagne and Tielemans were past their best when they left us, but they're still doing well.

That kane lad was just a bench warmer

Actually felt a bit sorry for him more than the rest of absolute scum we have playing for us- he isn’t a good fit at all for a relegation fight with the charlatans he has landed on same pitch as - pretty honest but brain dead mistake from him but he isn’t the problem in any way

I think that goes hand in hand with ruining him though.  We have very few players that make telling contributions at the right end of the pitch so they're under more pressure to basically carry the rest.  Fatawu is the biggest example of that.  He's taking on players and shots too often because he likely has little faith in anyone else to do the business.  I think the system is more setting Page back.  He's better as an 8 and won't get in the side ahead of the other options.  Unfortunately it seems all our managers want to play a 10 in a 4231 and although Page could do it, and while Page could do that, Rowett isn't going to play whoever he thinks is better for the role right now and not think about developing anyone.

He'll get plenty of time next season though.

Id say Ricardo deserves it more for that pathetic lack of game management in his failure to hack the bloke down

Nah- most of it on Mukasa.  Be honest, none of us expected their player to go on such a brilliant run ( at one point I thought he’d keep the ball and score goal of the season) , but LT had a chance to stop him as well, and other players too.

Losing the ball in the oppositions 18 yard box doesnt constitute conceding a goal. Pathetic defending and a complete lack of awareness to stop a threat while a bloke runs 50 yards with the ball unchallenged does though

Very disappointing today and recent games. Lovely control and flashes of skill but not involved enough for me . I was hoping GR would bring him off earlier than he did ( and that Abdul would be subbed too)- just get players on who’ll make a simple pass, move into space and run hard .

He didn’t “lose it” as in by a bit of bad luck or a great defending challenge , he under hit a simple pass from a set piece ( which might have been a trading ground routine)!  I can’t remember if he tried to burst a lung trying to run back to correct hud mistake ( he is 18 and a pro so should have the stamina).

Give the Swansea lad some credit- it was a skilful run. Yes, pathetic defending by all of our players involved who might have stopped him- and who was marking their scorer?
