Do we have the defensive ability to hold out for the rest of this half as we are?

They get another one and our players will sh!t themselves

But that's my point, I wouldn't be sitting back on this at all I'd be looking to get fresh impetus further up the pitch and trying to establish more threat on the break to keep them honest.

Bring the other new kid on. He's got pace for days even if he's raw.

Get Mav off.  Couldn't even bothered to move forward to get a pass from Page and draw a player away.

Mav has massively dropped off in terms of tracking back.

No he's very good  just needs a bit more strength. I didn't realise he's only 18.

Going to be agreat addition when he settles into the team.

He already looks a great addition

He has been shown up attack wise by a young kid.  He was constantly looking to get the ball forward into space and advance players.  Looks like a team player already, unlike Mav.

he has not been asked to do this much all season

Well he has, but he hasn't got it in him to do much.

We’re definitely defending deeper this half.

But I think the other obvious difference is because we’re trying to be more controlled with our attacks, they’re a little slower and we have less bodies going forward.

That allows Southampton to get a better starting defensive shape and we don’t have as many bodies around the ball when we lose it high and those things together mean that the Saints transitional play suddenly becomes a lot more effective.
