I like the new contract for Tuchel, but it does feel a tad like an agent safety net in case we have a shocker of a world cup/ FA safety net that enables them to get compensation from a club side. Probably cynical but I feel a 2030 contract would have meant it was more of a strategic move.

Good idea for a thread, had something England related to post the other week (which I've forgottenlol) and had nowhere to put it.

England will learn their opponents in the UEFA Nations League 2026-27 edition, when the draw is made in Brussels on Thursday 12 February 2026 and scheduled to start at around 5pm GMT.

The Three Lions are back in League A for the fifth edition of the competition, following their promotion from League B under the interim charge of Lee Carsley in the autumn of 2024.

And the draw will see teams drawn out into groups of four* from the four pots which are based on rankings, with six fixtures to be played home and away against each other to determine the final rankings in each group.

The pots in League A are as follows, which means England will be drawn out alongside a nation from pots one, two and four in their group.

Pot 1: Portugal, Spain, France, Germany
Pot 2: Italy, Netherlands, Denmark, Croatia
Pot 3: Serbia, Belgium, England, Norway
Pot 4: Wales, Czechia, Greece, Turkiye

That's a great group for travelling fans.

We're going to apply for memberships and start trying to build up priority.

Would be great to get to one of them, but imagine all would be difficult. Maybe Spain with a big allocation, but obviously there will be plenty of interest.

Got no chance for Czech or Croatia, only if you get lucky in the ballot.

Spain depending on where it is, should be a big allocation, but it'll take you a couple of years to start building your caps (4 yearly cycle). Good time to start though, with Euro 2028 just around the corner.

Well hopefully won't be like with our lot when we give a manager a new contract and it turns to pot.

Mind you the FA are runs by Italians.

Or indeed like with Capello they panic as Man Utd are interested and will end up paying him millions to leave after a crap world cup.

Lionesses as always maintain a good high standard. Going Saturday, could be another cricket score. Interesting second time i have seen Lionesses in Nottingham, last was in 2017 or 2018 i think at meadow lane in a friendly against Brazil. Just over 3,000 attended and now they sell out games! How the game as grew for womens game.

Last team before the World Cup is out today.

Call me mental but I do think we've got a great chance. A lot of key players in blinding form.

Kane is completely world class. Any team with a striker like him has a chance. 47 goals in 39 games for Bayern this season.

Would seem Lewis Hall, James Garner, Dom Calvert-Lewin, Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo are all getting call ups. All deserved and worth a look. Quite surprised as it seemed the squad was pretty settled.

Not sure about DCL or James Garner but no harm in having a look. Different players I know but Garner getting a call before KDH is crazy.

Lewis Hall 100% deserves a shot and probbaly has a decent shout in going straight into the first 11.

With defensive options so average, I would say Maguire is in the best 4 centre backs so probably deserves a recall.

Trent is a weird one because surely you'd think he's good enough to get in the squad, plays for Real Madrid but no-one ever fancies him for England. Can't be no worse than Djed Spence surely.

I know he won't play but Jason Steele called up lol

Apparently you're allowed a training goalkeeper at the World Cup so that's the reason. You'd think Ramsdale would just go if that was the case but I guess you want the training GK to be pretty much retired and coaching anyway.

I might be wrong but I think he's having a look at Garner as a 3rd choice right back. Played there quite frequently recently and with Walker and Trippier done now we are a bit light there. Obviously gives the inverted option too.

I imagine Reece James has been left out due to injury? Tuchel likes him usually.
