I'm not sure why Tuchel thought two playing two horribly out of form 10s against a back 3 was a good plan. 

 

They also seem allergic to playing long or direct balls. It's not a crime to play it long every now and again. The Japanese back 3 weren't stretched once all game.

 

Also, Elliott Anderson played like what he is, a decent Premier League player, not some Pirlo regen like the media make out. Same with Garner - Tuchel calling him a mini Valverde was ridiculous. Valverde is world class, Garner is a reasonable footballer.

All pretty meaningless. A great international break for everyone that didn't play. 

 

Feel a bit for Foden because in recent times he always seems to get his chance in these shirty games and doesn't get to play with the strongest team. But him and Palmer can't play together in that kind of formation. 

 

Dreadful couple of performances. Maguire has probably forced himself in with being a plan b.

Lost to a decent Japan side, not great performance but meh it's a friendly lets not forget this same Japan side beat Brazil and Germany. Safe to say these fringe players a far from good enough. Lots of players tonight at risk of being cut from the squad... Foden failed again, Palmer having stinker for club and country, Mainoo got back into league form but was passenger tonight, Rogers yet to prove himself in England shirt.

 

Danny Welbeck madness he's not in the team.

 

Safe to say when likes of Kane, Saka, Bellingham, Eze and Rice are fully fit we know were back in business.

It will be a squad game in America and i get that,but what i've seen from the squad at the moment doesn't fill me with any confidecnce of getting past the quarters.

Well the last two games probably show the depth isn't as strong as maybe hoped - or the ones coming in showed they have lacked games or form.

 

Hopefully the big names are fit and firing for when it matters.

We looked better when Maguire came on, I know he isn't great at defending but adds something going forward and would be good for set pieces at both ends, can see him starting

The FA have a proper chub on with boring gaffers. I suppose most of the players play for teams that also play the same turgid style, so it's easy to just stick with that.

I think it was a mistake having those two games at Wembley. The atmosphere is utterly atrocious. I only watched about 30 minutes on Friday and it was so flat I decided not to bother yesterday. They should've played them at a club ground.

True, he's really slow and any forward with any grain of talent can make him look awful.

Except he's been fairly successful with England, causes all sorts of problems from set pieces and should benefit from Tuchel favouring wing backs to support him.

everyone saying about Cole Palmer's drop off this season - to be honest i;m not surprised he has basically played none stop for 2 years. 

 

The club world cup was a killer in the summer and i am not surprised either Chelsea / any of their players have had a standout season.

Do you think there's clause in Tuchel's contract, if England got somehow knocked out in the group stage he could depart his contract early. I know 2014 Hodgson should have been sacked for England's early exit but the FA choose to stick with him for two more years, to face another humiliation.
