Why are people talking as if he is a bad manager?

Because some people just can't help themselves now.

If we tied Jurgen Klopp down to a 4 year deal, people would complain that it's putting finances in jeapardy.

Moan that it's taken 3 weeks but would find a way to moan if we employed him the next day. "safe option" "didn't even try to get anybody with any pedigree"

I hope he has been watching our games as research.  He won’t learn anything from

watching the clowns in training pass to each other in a circle and trying to skin each other instead of working as a team.

My fear is the obvious one, he will play the likes of Ricardo, Thomas, Okoli, Ayew who will prove us right and the manager wrong.

The first game to me is a right off where he gives them a chance and they repay him by doing everything exactly the same.

I think Musaka will be key in getting everyone up the pitch and advancing attacks. Mav needs to start using his brain for something other than step overs and cutting back once he’s already beaten a player.

Its going to happen. Right now we cant get on his back for this, as he will have to play at least 1 player we dont like.

He’s not a bad manager but he’s average at best.
Once again it’s the he’ll do appointment because he’s got experience in the championship.
We don’t think outside the box or even attempt to.
I know we’re a mess but look who Middlesbrough, Norwich, Bristol City and Swansea have appointed this season.
Would we have even looked at any of those names at those clubs now in the summer? Of course not.

In the situation we’re in it makes complete sense to recruit a manager with a track record of stabilising clubs in crisis—much more sense than taking a speculative punt on a manager with no experience of a Championship relegation scrap. In the summer there will be a rebuild job irrespective of what division we’re in, which will require a different skill set. McCarron and—hopefully—a new CEO will have a major say in that decision, so hopefully we’ll think a little more outside the box than we would do with Top and Rudkin alone.

Highly unlikely.

He prefers senior players…. I’ll be over the moon if he doesn’t, but I can’t see him not to being with.

He has a very strong preference for fast attacking players who can press relentlessly and enable quick transitions from defence to attack. Ayew is literally the opposite of a Rowett-style player.

I hope so!

Great escape 2.0 incomming.  Good luck Mr Rowett.   Lets gets behind him and the Team now and stop all the bickering.

Like the man says - time to stop whining and get behind the team.  Relegation to League One is not an option and would likely find the club fighting bankruptcy and possibly going out of business.  Surely even the most negative of us don't want that?

He looks like he is still fit enough to play.

He run marathons I think I heard him say on a podcast recently.

So who did they really want?
Clearly Rowett wasn’t first choice.
I’d question whether he was even second or third choice.

Probably Russell Martin i think... why i dont know hes awful. Then Probably Enzo who was never going to return, Dyche was never going to come. In the end it was between Rowett and the former Aberdeen boss. Rowett probably got it based on his championship experience.

Very much doubt we were after Martin. Enzo? Yes, I suspect that rumour was true…

And herin lies out problem.

He will have to play one of those players at least that we have all grown to hate. The list:

Okoli

Ayew

Daka

Thomas

Viktor

Riccy (i hate old Riccy, not the bloke)

Wink

Aluko cant play both sides, Riccy cant play every game, one of Daka or Ayew will have to play and both cant play 90 mins each game. Either one of Luke or Victor has to play. And i am sure Winks will feature at some point.

I think we have to accept this sadly.

With that list of his players he’ll do the following:

Okoli, Thomas and VK : He’ll simplify their games, no playing out, no silly mistakes. Defend, be aggressive and clear your lines. He eluded to this in his interview.

Daka: he’ll be the outlet. We won’t be as possession based, we’ll be all about getting the ball forward quickly. Daka stretches teams and him being at the top end will make the opposition defend deeper.

Ayew - will be used sparingly imo.

Ricardo - he will use him how he needs to in order to get the best out of him, won’t be bombing forward and moving into midfield too much. Back 4 will be compact. On the available options, Rowett occasionally played Nelson at fullback whilst at Oxford. Could see him filling in there when Lascelles is fit.

Winks - he’ll play like Brannigan does at Oxford. Sat in front of back 4 dictating play. As we’ve got Skipp, Aribo and JJ (hopefully soon) to choose from we have good options in the middle.

The big positive is he will play in a way that actually suits this team I think. As @ClaphamFox has stated he played aggressive, front footed pressing football. So this will benefit the skill sets in our teams.

Despite our woes, this is still a good squad, for this level. A change of direction is exactly what we need, a more simplified approach.

All music to my ears if true.

i also think if we do end up going down then he'd be a fine fit for league one? providing we show some fight over the next 14 games.

as stated above - if we go down it isn't solely on him. he has taken us on in the relegation zone and if that's where we end up it won't be all his fault

It does  sort of make sense but I can’t get away from the fact that once it had been decided to sack Cifutes then an appointment should have been made immediately.

The remaining 10 weeks of the season will see 14 “ Cup Finals”. I think however there are six in the next 23 days. My point here is that won’t be a lot of time to work on anything between games. Yes there will be a few tweaks that will have to happen immediately but working on simple things like set pieces and triggers to press take time add to that particularly over the next 23 days recovery and travel will occupy a significant proportion of the time that he will have to work on anything..

I personally have little to no expectations that anything will materially change . Hope is one thing and you can only wish him well but as I say we will know an awful lot more after the next 6 games  and those games were always going to be particularly challenging no matter who was in charge.

Mukasa is the first name on the team sheet already, Play someone with half a brain up front and he will create no end of opportunities. I really hope we don’t get Fatawu, Ayew & Mav as the front three as it’s painful to watch 99% of the time.
