Interested to see what those who are saying he keeps persisting with the wrong selection suggest he does instead?

I'm not Rowett's biggest fan by any means but he really doesn't have much of a choice beyond playing a few teenagers. As he said in his post-match comments, we can't play direct and we can't press aggressively because we don't have the players capable of doing those things. All we have are players to knock the ball around the half way line in pretty triangles.

So with Daka or Souttar, you can't go direct, and press aggressively is down to fitness

Daka can't play every minute of every game, eventually Ayew has to come on. Harry Souttar who hasn't played a game for anyone since Boxing day 2024? Sorry to say but the responsibility for a lack of fitness falls on Andy King

These displays and this football is no way a Rowett team or system. Either we’ve assembled a group of players who can only play this god awful slow football so he has to go with it , or they just go out and do what they want and ignore him. Either is possible.

Has anyone actually tried to work out how much time in a game is wasted by sideways and backwards? Must be 30 mins a match! We don’t need the opposition to time waste we do it to ourselves.

Yup Southampton have better players than us, not players that have got two eyes on there next move.

Oxford, Blackburn, West Brom and Pompey have players that actually give a shit, give there all and play as a team all three things we lack which is curial especially in a relegation battle.

We have had to play the same full backs and wingers all season because we don't have any other players capable of stepping in never mind a weak GK and no clinical striker, what the **** are you expecting the manager to do perform a miracle

Loan players have added nothing apart from James but even he has been out injured to much.

One thing you do in this situation is pick a formation that doesn't require both fullbacks and wingers...

No way Souttar was coming on yesterday. His warm up was the most pathetic display I have seen. I’ve taken more strenuous sh1ts.

Did you see Hamza's? Waddled on at half time for 5 mins and spent most of it misplacing passes. Embarrassing.

Those side to side passes along the back where they try and play it to Ricardo and then Thomas.  Both are already positioned to send it back, then Winks finally passes it to Skipp who doesn’t even attempt to turn and sends it back for JV to either stop, get pressed and almost cost us a goal or smashes it to Daka to fall over.

Do you know what he can do. Out them. Drop them. Play kids in their place.

Playing them, refusing to criticise them, moddycoddling them isn't getting improved performances. What has he got to lose, unless he is that useless that he simply cannot see it.

Problem is, young players get played, make a mistake like Musaka and then get booed. As stupid as it is managers will rightly protect young players from that as it’s not going to help them. Look at Jacob and Ben, they are both semi reasonable players in a squad with confidence, they are making silly errors in a team under pressure. Exposing young players to this pressure now is probably not going to help them, they need to be winning at a lower level.

I can't help but think Rowett hasn't got the autonomy we think he does.

I’m inclined to agree.

Where the hell have Page and Aluko gone?

Why hasn’t Lorenz got minutes?

Because when they mess up there will be boos. It’s a huge step up from under 18s to the men’s game relegation battle.

True. He's a yes man paid by a corrupted system. He's also part of the system. Normal people like you and me are not allowed into this. There are certain specs you need to have to be "employeed" by the system.

It could ruin them by keeping them in and around the squad regularly whilst we’re in free fall. He’s doing the right thing I think.

They’ve had a taste of senior football, know more what it’s about and hopefully will be better for it when we’re (hopefully) towards the top end of League 1 next season.

Rowett knows he was unwanted and only got the job because others rejected us. He's only interested in a paycheck. Now he's resorted to crying that the players wont listen to him to save some face. Truly pathetic, just like his team.

Probably not as big a c’nt as the players but still part of the problem and a bloody terrible manager- literally hasn’t changed a thing in 8 games - nada nothing - pathetic

So who are the ones who weren't listening yesterday then?

Winks / Vestergaard and Ayew? All easily droppable.

Noticed it at the time and has probably been mentioned numerous times but Winks spoke to Mukasa before the free kick was taken… obviously telling him to fake a delivery to then set him up for a shot on the edge of the penalty area, and we all know the rest. Seems as though Winks took matters into his own hands against the instruction from the manager, and Rowett has eluded to this in his post match interview.

Hamza being sarcastic at the end wont help his case. When the fans starting chanting "your not to fit where the shirt" then began to strech his shirt in response. No... not clever or funny.

What you wrote may or may not be true, parts of it, or all of it. However, the buck stops with him, and he's not shying away from it. For me, it's enough to respect the man. I do not see anything pathetic in the man. If some players don't listen to his instructions, then that's how it is. He did not sign a single player; what he has at his disposal was there before and is plain for all to see.

I can see your logic here and you're correct, the buck does stop with him.

But if players aren't listening to.him, following his instructions etc. he has the power as the manger to try and sort this.

Drop players, bring in fringe or youth to replace them, try other formations or  tactics they are receptive too, these are all.options open to.him.

But all he has done, and it wouldn't surprise me if he continues to do so, is exactly the same as he has done from day one....which in turn is a carbon copy of a carbon copy of the previous managers.

Don't cry about it Gaz, but instead use the final.games as a opportunity to actually grow a pair.and fvcking change things!

With all due respect, their careers are secondary to the club’s future.

It’s worth the risk of knocking their confidence to salvage our Championship status. Otherwise they shouldn’t have been signed to professional contracts.

So many things are lacking or are just are ass-backwards in this club of ours...

I don't know if introducing youth players at this point will solve anything. The biggest problems are obviously the lack of scoring and very poor defense. It would take a truly special kind of a youth talent to do either at this level, mainly without the mental stamina that takes years to form.

Although I have been emotional here in regards to his work as late as yesterday, I realize that I don't know enough about people management on a scale like this to make a pronouncement of Rowett's shortcomings or mistakes.  We simply don't have enough information to make an educated opinion. In a free society the press should give a voice to those that otherwise can't ask direct questions. It would be nice if someone from the local journalist corps would ask him direct questions directly - why play the same formation, why make changes so late, why not give time to the young players, why select one player or another, why keep starting Ricardo, etc. etc.

There are pre- and post-match press conferences...

An utterly dreadful manager... even sacked by our relegation rivals.

The fact we hired him says everything about those running our club now

My post wasn't just an advocate to play youth,  but to use the current opportunity after his whining, "Brand of Rowett" saving excuse role out to the media to actually implement a change or two. (what do we have to loose).  Him admitting players aren't listening isn't a good advert for his managerial skills.

Change the formation for a start, play 2 up front. Or go more direct, two simple changes that 'may' Reep some reward, but we’ll never know as Rowett will churne out the same formation and team selection as past weeks in the hope it will click and bear some fruit.

The media in pre-match press conferences will never ask the truly deep searching  questions we as fans would love answers too. It wouldn't surprise me if all the questions are vetted and filtered beforehand, to save embarrassment on some subjects.  Journalists won't rock the boat to much and I'd be surprised if any truly "went off piste" in the fear of not being invited back to future press conferences. But this is just guessing on my front and not based on any knowledge of how they work.
