Okay, I’m starting to see this pop up quite a bit.

I feel I need to try it and I’ve watch quite a few videos now.

Is anyone playing this?

What are the thoughts?

And that why you're here.

I have no idea what padel is.

However I've attended assaults on a few occasions where the victim is a suspected  peado.

Have they ever been hit with kiddy tennis racquets?

Padel is a game for people who are rubbish at tennis and squash.

Whilst I agree, tennis is hard to get good at and even worse when 2 bad players are playing. At least with padel you can rock up with quite literally anybody and after hardly any time have a competitive game

Yes, very true. I remember playing tennis in my youth. Rallies were rare and double faults frequent. It wasn't unusual to lose your own service game 0-40 as we refused to serve underarm.

great fun to play, the Padel Barn in Market Bosworth is great venue to play too.

It is a good laugh and helps with the fitness.

Is Padel the same as Pickleball?

If not, what's the difference?

I don't know why the concept incenses me so much but it does. Think it's the LinkedIn, Hyrox, wellness club aspect.

Haha, yeh definitely been taken up by those types.

It is a genuinely fun sport though. It's always played in doubles so you obviously need 4 of you to get a game going. But its very forgiving, I think you can have a decent game without anyone needing to be particularly good at it. Far more so than tennis anyway.

I can see that but I don't like Tennis either because the barrier to entry is fairly high ability-wise. I enjoy badminton more than any other racket sport

proper Padel courts are played in more like a squash court with a depressurised tennis ball where as pickle is a plastic ball with holes in on smaller tennis court (size of a badminton court)

Thought about it a cpl of years ago - not necessarily to play but to open a venue, there is one now not far from me in Market Bosworth. I think in the next cpl of years the market will be a bit more saturated with clubs so the money tree will of sailed. I think you'd need a between £250K to £400K to set one up unless you have an unused barn on some farmland. Anyone up for chucking some money in let me know, could probably get half of it from a lender.

Been looking to give it a go for a while and theres a new Padel venue opening in Thurmaston soon so will give that a go

There's a couple apparently popping up in Leicester, Spring/Summer this year. Fastest growing sport in the world. Me and my mates have been playing it for a couple years, great fun!

Correct, because its more forgiving, it becomes more accessible and less daunting for those who would struggle at tennis. You certainly can't play it like you would tennis because you'd be hitting it way too hard :D

The Padel Barn is a terrible venue, if anyone needs a court don't go there under any circumstances it really isn't worth your time travelling over there. The atmosphere is rubbish too, they don't do a decent coffee, its no good in the winter despite being indoors. I'd never book in advance either it's never busy so you'll always get in after work, no trouble.

🙃

P.s please don't steal my court

Yeah getting a court at a social time is pretty much impossible :D

it is a cross between squash/tennis, but easier than tennis and is highly addictive. People n our office playing 3 x a week £16 a pop each time!
