I can’t think of any other club that has fallen so fast, so quickly over a 10 year period.

2016 - Champions of England

2017 - Champions League Quarter Final

2021 - FA Cup / Community Cup Winners

2023 - Relegated from Premier League

2024 - Promoted from Championship

2025 - Relegated from Premier League

2026 - Possible relegation to League 1….?

I can only think of clubs like Portsmouth, Rangers, Wigan, Bolton etc, however they were all hit by being in administration and massive points deductions (which is still a possibility for us) but this has happened without us having those challenges (yet).

I did a quick google search and only Deportivo - La Liga Champions in 2000 to third Tier in 2020s, or Schalke dropping like a stone.

Leeds not entirely dissimilar. 1992 champions to total collapse by 2004. Similar slump from 1973 to 1983 too..

Derby went from champions in 76 to third division by 1984.

Man City ofc were in third division 15 years or so after winning league cup

Said a few times on here over the past 2 or 3 years that the club need to finish the King Power montage now with the decline to show a true reflection of how they have done. I totally swith off when that video comes on the big screen pre match and have done for the last few years as we need to move on and not be looking back as great as 2016 - 2021 was.

Spring 2017-Spring 2019 it was pretty bang average.

As good as winning the league and cup was, I do think we probably should have even won more.

If only Kante had given us another season. I think we might have gotten past Atletico to the semi finals of the champions league.

Roma in the conference league was a 50/50 game as well. Win that and we win the competition in my eyes. Not to forget the league cup near miss in 2020.

Probably never again as well, at least in my lifetime.

Not on the same level but after winning the league cup in 1980, Wolves were relegated 4 times in 5 years down to Division 4 (league 2)

Parma in Italy is another one. Regular European finalists ended up bankrupt.

Agreed. The two semi final defeats were on negative tactics by Rodgers in my opinion. What a shit show in last nearly 4 years from all concerned at KPFC (formally Leicester City FC)

Blackburn were the biggest spenders in the league when they won it and got relegated three years later.

They probably made half of the earnings in 1995 than we did 21 years later

I'm not sure the "modern riches" is actually that relevant.

If your outgoings on wages is 90% of income, you're at much at risk from financial disaster whether your turnover is £20M or £200M.

It's quality on the pitch that counts.   Falls from grace - be it Derby 1975, Leeds 1992, Blackburn 1995, or us 2016 - are all pretty bad.

Well only if you don’t count inflation and a while host of other factors.

It’s all relative. They bought Chris Sutton for a British transfer record £5m. The equivalent would be us buying someone for £126m.

I totally disagree….. modern riches are completely relevant.

We had over half a billion pass through the club in ten years, more than the likes of Blackburn and Derby have probably ever had pass through their clubs in their entire existence.

And if you want to talk about on pitch context….. it too is far more shocking, and both their declines happened on era’s when football from generally was technically inferior, at that level. Blackburn and Derby’s demise in the context of their respective eras are shocking, but nothing compares to ours. It will only be eclipsed if one of the traditional ‘big six’ end up doing the same.

We'll just have to agree, to disagree then!    :)

Hopefully yes !
All self inflicted by an owner who isn’t remotely interested in our club !!

All clubs have rough times and fans up and down the country expect to win, lose and draw, good times and bad, that’s the game !!

But as I see it, the care for our club is at an all time low and is being neglected to extreme proportions if it was a dog it would have to be put to sleep and I personally can’t have that so until KP have gone…… I’m done !!
