I´ve just seen, for the first time, the word SOLIPSISTIC:

It describes someone extremely self-centred or narcissistic, focusing solely on their own experiences while disregarding or doubting the reality of others' feelings and the external world.

So... narcissistic then, which we already have a word for. :dunno:

I'm all for the German methodology of new words, just compound loads of words together that describe what it does.

Like rolltreppe - rolling stairs = escalator

Or wörterbuch - word book = dictionary

Or kraftfahrzeughaftpflichtversicherung - motor vehicle liability insurance = car insurance.

You can be narcissistic and have an understand that other people have feelings; you just don't care about them.

Solipsistic leans towards not considering that other people have feelings or thoughts beyond what you tell them.

Briefly put, solipsism is the philosophical theory that the self is all that exists while narcissism is excessive love of oneself

Any slight underdog overperforming in sport is considered to be "doing a Leicester" these days and it grinds my gears.

Don't worry, it'll soon mean underperforming.

Well, in the spirit of it...

Sesquipedalian: "given to or characterized by the use of long words"

How very magniloquent.

The greatest word ever. It means a person who enjoys nibbling on the earlobes of women.  And I finally got to type it somewhere.

Ta.

Glad to be of service.

I thought we needed a new thread to help keep us going until the fixtures come out, the transfers begin (hopefully) and Conor Coady is appointed manager :giggle:

Also Bloodclaat.

I used to hear these about 40 years ago and always wondered what they meant. I know it's a Jamaican/Rastafarian term but I couldn't work out if they were an insult or just something akin to us using the term "twat"
