Pep is the greatest Premier League manager of all time - Maresca has got some tough boots to fill, must be exciting to deal with a competent boardroom though compared to John Rudkin and Top.

Nothing against Enzo, he clearly worked wonders for us in somehow getting a tune out of the players and uniting the club, but based on how he came very close to not taking the most expensive Championship team in history up it always blows my mind to think how sliding doors moments happen.

If Hamza hadn’t made a couple of goal line clearances against West Brom, we probably bottle promotion and he’s not getting a sniff of Chelsea or Man City.

Fair play though. I thanked him for saving the club by taking us up, he’s probably not done that but through no fault of his own.

Wages wise, our team this season is probably one of the most expensive in championship history....

Most of the players Maresca had are still in our squad now. Main losses being Vardy, Ndidi, Hermansen and KDH.

Absolutely, but that season it was probably another 3rd more on top. Playing ability wise, that’s literally the spine of the team that went up.

It's completely relevant when you described it as some of the least enjoyable football you've ever seen, unless you haven't been watching us since? I wouldn't blame you.

To be fair I get calling Maresca a bit dull. A lot of it was and we never really blew anyone away. But some of the least enjoyable football you’ve ever watched? Really? Since he left we’ve had plenty of the same dull sideways nothingness, just without control or goals or the general sense that anyone knows what they’re doing.

We won 5-0 twice, 5-1, 4-1 twice and 4-0. There was a few big wins in that season.

I agree it wasn't always the most exciting to watch, but there was times where it really clicked and we put away teams.

And the 4-0 was against a play off chasing super in form Southampton, and (may be remembering wrong) it was after a little wobble and felt fairly high pressure. Very confident he is going to do extremely well at Man City, similar vibes to Kompany going from Burnley to Bayern, he knows how to set up to win consistently with better players than his competition and low blocks every week

It was some of the least enjoyable football ive ever seen - not the worst.

It was horrific to watch in my opinion, despite the results being positive.

Can't remember many games under his rein where i came away thinking wow, that was a great watch.

Football served up this season was bad, but for other reasons.

Hope he does well.

His football was incredibly tedious to watch, but he'll be working with players that have the quality to play the way he wants.

As much as people blame Pep, it's not his fault there's a bunch of mini tactic board loving wrongun's trying to get extremely limited players to recreate football meant for elite players.

Scoring two goals per game and winning the league? Nah mate it's been way more fun watching Jordan Ayew fall over whilst the rest of the team develops depression.

Hard to compare.

He did that with a far superior team at his disposal, both in technical ability and individual mentality, and if he had had the current crop of dog-sh1t  during  23/24 I sorely doubt he'd have had anywhere near the same levels.of success and the levels of "entertainment" due to it.

He was paid to do a job of getting us promoted, which he did, (even though Enzoball was eventually "found out" and it became a bit of a slog at the end) and as a coach to get his idea and philosophy across I'll give credit where credits due he was good.

BUT.

Regardless of the winning and scoring of goals (with the better team), playing under his management style for 99% of the match we were boring as fvck too watch. Frustrating as hell with his quest to control "looking for solutions"  the tedious back and sideways passing when on the cusp of a promising attack.  For me the 1% when scoring the goals does not out way the 99% when Enzoball was doing it's level best to slip me into a coma.

Personally I couldn't give two sh1t's where he goes next to sap any true entertainment out of a match with his Enzoball,  just as long as it's not here occupying our home dugout.....

Clicked on this thread for a laugh and didn't disappoint.

We've just had the worst season in our history. Genuinely scarring. And people giving up season tickets and not returning.

But a bit of news on Enzo, and the usual lot are climbing over each other to tell us again how bad that season was.

This season wasn't boring, but I'd rather never go through it again, thanks!

For the first time Maresca will have the reins at a well ran club. He's been successful so far at shitshows so with a steady environment where he already knows 80% of the squad should see him flourish.

He's only managed what, 2 full seasons too?

Totally agree.

As I said before, I didnt enjoy his football one bit but I believe hes a great coach and if theres anyone who can carry on where Pep left off, its probably him.

Some big boots to fill, but I wish him well.

They will reach a settlement with the league - there might be hefty deduction but they're certainly not getting relegated. It's a bump in the road but with the exception of maybe Arsenal, the rest of the big clubs are all in a state of flux too. It's unlikely Haaland, Semenyo, Rodri jump ship when they can ride out a fallow year on huge wages they're unlikely to get elsewhere.

Barca are still in the mire financially and Real are a basket case. If you had to pick a time to get a deduction as Man City - it's probably around about now.

There isn't going to be any settlements..

I have zero respect for man city they have cheated a lot of people including their own fans
