Walshie is God Posted 18 August Posted 18 August It's clearly not the manager. This is about manager number 4 now and the same slow, lethargic sideways and backwards crap. The clubs culture is screwed. The owner don't care and that transpires onto the pitch. It comes from Top at the top down. Rudkin knows he is untouchable and the shit continues, I dont see this season being any different based on that first 90 mins. 1
StinckleyFox Posted 18 August Posted 18 August 5 minutes ago, The Doctor said: but the fans are behind the team during the games... the booing consistently starts at full time after yet another below par performance. This "oh get behind the team" stuff is utter nonsense. People weren't booing Marti and Rowett or the players last season during games, they won't be booing Martin or the players during the game this season: voicing displeasure with what we've seen after a game is absolutely fine, and the people moaning about booing are against that, there's no room for criticism, everything is perfect even as we plummet down the divisions with players who think they're too good to wear the shirt and who insult us week after week phoning it in. I’ve not seen a single person say that everything is perfect, nor have I seen anyone sticking up for top. There is plenty of people who boo when the ball doesn’t go forward quick enough and that has been happening since enzo was here when the team was actually quite successful. This season a lot of the shit has been cleared out and players have come in who appear to want to play for Leicester, so as has been said by lots of people already, give it 10-15 games and let’s see where we are before we start calling for martins head. 2 1

Shit people picking shit managers, the first time Russel was linked when we were a a better prem side most people were horrified. His subsequent failings how done nothing to change that, it’s just we have fallen further. 10 -15 games to impress hopefully

You can be both aware that the club has been ****ed for years by the boardroom and also that Martin isn't doing himself any favours, and what has been shown so far is worrying. Just because theres been years of neglect doesn't mean you can't expect a manager to do a better job?

Was referring specifically to the part where you said that even if he wins the next six games you’ll still be waiting to jump down his throat.

Because that's just the way football is, a large proportion of our fanbase had their minds made up on him before he was even appointed. I thought he bought himself a bit of good will with the first few pre season games by playing a lot of the youth players that looked hungry and energetic but he's reverted to type like the last few managers with players like Luke Thomas, Okoli, Skipp and BDCR. It's much of the same playing the same ineffective stagnant way with the same shite players. Fact is we should be winning the next 5 at this level, but if we do it where we're scraping through not playing well, surrendering chances playing into trouble and knicking the points with a worldie with this style we're used to it only takes a loss for that criticism to come back doesn't it That's not to say if he does bomb the usual suspects out of the squad, makes it so that the centre halves who cant kick a ball aren't touching the ball more than any other player and brings back the energy and decent press we saw at the start of pre season he won't get praise from me and others. But we all know that that won't happen it'll just be more of the same and with people like myself unprepared to give him an inch or any patience that's why he'll start getting hounded again. Obviously it's not his fault with the situation thats been presented to him, but it would be his fault to carry on the way he's started and not changing anything Edited 18 August by It'sblueupnorth 1 1

He can name a team with one single player more expensive than the opponents entire squad for pretty much every game this season. yes there's arguments that that reflects gross failures in recruitment rather than squad quality and yes, he wasn't responsible for signing skipp or Okoli but thats what he's working with. throw in that he represents everything that is wrong with the club over the last 5 years, the pure distilled essence of Aiyawatts obsession with boring football, and 6 wins will not be enough to buy faith, he will need to do significantly more to be anything more than tolerated by most fans. not his fault that after the last 5 years patience has run dry, but that's the job he's knowingly taken 3

filthyfox Posted 18 August Posted 18 August Give him 5 more games.... and of he hasnt won 4, then GOODBYE. OK... if he wins three and remains unbeaten then give him another 3 games, but the average needs to be 1 win in 3, or at the very least 2/3 points

I'm certainly not on board with calling for a manager to be sacked after one league game. That is frankly ridiculous. However, 15 games is too lenient. If it's clearly not working out we could be cut adrift from the top end of the table by then. 3
Pliskin Posted 19 August Posted 19 August I don’t think it’s a genuine case people want him gone after a game. I think there’s a large portion of the fanbase who didn’t want him to begin with (I was one), and subsequently can’t see it improving. I don’t think it will personally, I think we will be getting what we saw against Notts week in week out. Like I’ve said, it’s not his fault, he knows how he wants to play, and it just doesn’t suit this team. But fail to win on Saturday and the pressure is well and truly on. No excuses for a team that has one player worth the entire of Burton more or less. 2
Death by Football Posted 19 August Posted 19 August I didn't want him here and I still don't but in reality there's no point sacking Martin now as we'll only spend 8 weeks faffing around looking for another manager willing to play the same sh!te brand of football badly. It's worrying that Martin can't see the obvious limitations in Okoli, McCarthy, Souttar, Skipp and Thomas. You'd have to be blind to think that that defensive unit has any hope of playing out from the back and not conceding stupid goals every game. I hope the new players coming in can impart some energy into our performances as we're reliant on them rather than the manager to make things better. Until the board and manager get it through their heads that we need a faster paced style of play we will continue in our downwards spiral.

In the case of Okoli and Souttar, he literally had no choice. That is literally all we've got right now. I sure hope that McFarlane will come in for Thomas once he's fully fit. If he doesn't, then my patience will wear thin quickly.
Tuna Posted 19 August Posted 19 August Hate Martin ball with a passion, it's absolute shite. But if we have to play it, give him the players to play it properly. That defensive disaster class in the last two matches was embarrassing and we'll soon become a laughing stock trying to play it out with Okoli, Souttar and Thomas in the team, let alone the goalkeeper.
Corky Posted 19 August Posted 19 August Had a full pre-season, seven weeks until the first league match. Signing players he knows closely. No excuses if we are way off it. 1
Dan Posted 19 August Posted 19 August I agree that sacking him already would make us look such a basket case that nobody would touch us for a while. We've made our bed with Martin. We've probably got to lie in it for a while now. That isn't me pretending I'm on board. I never have been and any chance I am is pretty low as well. So far I've seen little to think I was wrong. Disappointingly for the Martin doubters is that they have clearly wanted this bloke for a long time. He's very much their man. He'll get greater leeway than the likes of Cooper and Cifuentes did. Really wouldn't surprise me if we were 8th in January and he was still in charge, for example. 3
Dames Posted 22 August Posted 22 August Hi everyone. What are the excuses today? We are completely doomed if we keep this clown in charge.
Tomo260 Posted 22 August Posted 22 August Russell Martin needs to go and he needs to go NOW. I just can't believe people have hyped him up 2
jordie_1872 Posted 22 August Posted 22 August Hello a rangers fan am sorry your club has been landed with russell martin the guy is soo far out his depth as a football manage. I really for the sake of your club you's get rid of him quicker than my club did as it has set my club back about 10 years 1
Nods Posted 22 August Posted 22 August The predictability is so tiring. Of course it's not going to work. Anyone paying any attention for the past couple of years could tell you that, and therein lies the problem.
