It's the main absurdity of the game , pantomime stuff. The refs perpetuate it with their decisions - if diving resulted in cards every time instead of freekicks it'd be over immediately.

 

Players more adept at planning on how to fall to the floor safely than a stuntman. 

 

It'd need to be a worldwide movement to eradicate, but it's a part of the game. 

 

Rugby genuinely has the better officiating set up.

As well, they can do it all. Grind it out. Dark arts. Get physical. Play decent football. Counter. Even coming through with a decent bit of strength in depth.

He probably wouldn't and Thomas Frank said as much on MOTD, that if you get them you're happy. But its still a bad decision. Ballard pulls Konsa down, if anything its a free kick to Arsenal. Attackers are just going to start pulling defending onto them and falling to the ground every week to get penalties.
