Make your own mind up - perhaps marginally less opposition than for Martin, but still no enthusiasm  (apart from usual optimism of 'give him a chance'). It is interesting looking at initial thoughts and most were spot on.

The Cooper appointment somehow felt worse at the time than Martin does now. Maybe because I still had a season ticket then.

I just got back from porto and I am having to readjust severely to this news.

We have to back him. 🫩

I would rather back a three legged donkey in the grand national..

I dont understand this have to back when its clear to see its gonna be a disaster.. its like backing a drunk pilot to fly your plane then wondering why you crashed into the nearest mountain

My hope is thet Hourihane makes a difference. I worked in Barnsley when he was a squad leader and he was spoken of very highly. I'm hoping he is able to say "this stuff won't fly in League One, try this instead"

As I've said before, I'm still willing to give him a chance. Every manager deserves that. Right now though we're back in Cooper territory: everyone's judged him before he's started.

I still feel the frustration with the ownership for this move. I get the anger and resentment at how the club's being run. But FFS, let's at least see how he pans out. The negativity's all-encompassing at the minute and I can't be arsed with it. We will forever be in this negative death spiral otherwise.

I'll give him time. And if it doesn't work out, I'll throw all my vitriol back where it belongs: at the ownership.

But he does have great hair.

But you can't look at Martin's record, his personality and style of football and greet it positively.  We know exactly what to expect from him.

It is just as reasonable to say that i don't want him to manage my club as it is to say that I don't want lucy letby to babysit.

What a wild thing to say.

Lucy Letby does actually have some supporters who think she is innocent.

Cooper felt a stupid appointment at the time because we knew that he couldn’t coach the squad to carry on playing anything like the way we had been under Enzo.

With Martin, at least there is a degree of hope that he can coach the players to play a certain way and find success with it, rather than Cooper’s nonsensical lack of tactics that never gave us a chance.

Personally, I think he gets the first 5 games from the fans and then if the majority are not impressed, he’ll be hounded out like he was at Rangers. It could go either way and we’ll likely know very early on.

They were banking on getting Potter and when that didn’t happen they instantly and stupidly went for Cooper.
Once again the lack of imagination and looking further afield cost us massively when Cooper was appointed.
I hope it doesn’t happen with Martin but I fear it will.

Slight difference is that they've wanted RM for a while. Whether this is good or not will remain to be seen of course.

Foxes don't do hounding out. They sit on their hands or applaud

Hmm, not sure I agree with the comparison 😆

I think what you've said is totally subjective. You can look at him, his record (prior to the premier League season) and personality and like him. The problem is many people have, like cooper, already made their minds up that it's a poor choice and to assassinate his character.  It may well be a poor appointment. But considing the negative rut we are in it seems counter productive to constantly be on a downer when we aren't able to do anything about the appointment.

To clarify, I'm in no way a pro-Martin person, but I will personally support him.

A known failure, known for negative football and stubborn tactics managing know failures playing negative stubborn football.

I'm not a fan of Martin but in fairness our fans have destroyed basically anyone who's ever been a success at this club at some point.

if he wins the league this season, and finishes 10th in the championship the following season, is that failure?

With the money we’ve been spending? Absolutely it is.

At least Martin has a clear defined style even if I don’t like it. I can’t help but think the last managers didn’t really have any tactical idea at all, it was so dis jointed. At least if we have a plan A it might help a bit.
