the journalist Nick Mashiter made reference to a number of interested managers backing off due to a lack of autonomy. Felt like RL took that to be a positive sign of the DOF having control but I heard it the potential managers felt Rudkin was going to continue calling shots

They do need to let him build his own team around him, I think cooper was the last one allowed to bring in his own team.

Sounds like Hourihane probably stepped up a bit too early to being a manager or needed a bit more experience around him, and although he didn’t do the best he wasn’t bad either, and there were issues above him that made the job a lot harder

I know it's only AI- I didn't see anything of Barnsley last season- but it's positive. Could Brussell actually be having a re-think on his tactical approach?

He's not jumping ship, he left Barnsley at the end of the last season by mutual agreement. So he's looking for work and hopefully Rudkin hasn't won't pay silly money, should he end up coming here.

Plenty of men out there that got promoted from the Championship to the Premier League… many of them free agents. 

Tony Pulis maybe?

Scott Parker maybe?

 

 We’d pay silly wages to attract someone down to League One… let’s face it, we’ve just convinced someone to take the step from second richest club in Scotland, so there must be some draw. Unless of course there’s a reason someone would be happy to drop two divisions inside twelve months… 

 

A promotion from the Championship to the Premier League isn’t an indicator that we’ve done well or this is some kind of coup - those are just the club’s media lines - we could’ve hired any number of others with Premier League promotion experience, but that wouldn’t make them a coup…
