You’d think if the appetite was there from both club and player to extend his stay with us, it wouldn’t have reached the entering final year of contract stage.

 

Then it’s a case of thinking what is more likely

 

1. The club thinks he is not good enough for our immediately future as a League 1 side. It’s not like he is going to be a higher earner that we cannot afford to retain. As a younger player as well, there’d be more benefit to having him sign a longer contract even if to sell him.

2. Young player who despite some rocky performances last season, is still going to be seen as a prospect within footballing circles, wants to get away from what is a toxic situation at this club, where it isn’t valued and have a fresh start.

 

Without actually knowing, the educated guess would go to 2, the lack of new contract being on the players end here.

Apparently he had a contract offer on the table in March, but wanted to see how the season ended before committing. 
Judging by the fact he hasn’t signed it yet, says he wants to leave.

Sadly he turned into Vestergaard junior when he became the main CB.  He looked good when he was playing next to JV and doing the basics well while the clowns to the side and in front passed around for no reason.

Seems coincidental that Torino have shown an interest in both Okoli and Nelson

 

I think you would be more likely to see Okoli go there than Nelson, but Nelson's agent is playing it clever to draw up interest in his client when he knows Leicester need to sell.

He'd be a revelation in the Italian league as the pace is so much slower than the Prem or even the Championship.

 

I'd like to keep him but with only a year left on his Contract it's likely he'll move on.
