@filbertway pointed me in the way of BBC's schedule which is doing all the working out as everything stands.

I have been using this myself just to track who is in, out and still in the mix.

That's where I've taken it from haha. Will try and update on here as it progresses.

The Brazilian kind.

Pastel

or

Grilled cheese in a wrap with peppers and chilli

BBQ food  sometimes wrapped and cooked in pastry

Fried fish in a tortilla with salsa

I have a Brazilian friend who has recommended these if I ever visit.

So given all the complaints about the increased size of this world cup:

a) Are the 32 teams after the group stage what we'd expect for a 32 round tournament anyway, so all people are complaining about is having to watch MOAR FOOTBALL? :P

b) We have some outsiders/underdogs in the 32 team round of this world cup, which makes a greater-number format worthwhile having from a competitive point of view? :P

I don't mind more teams entering as such but the best 3rd place teams stuff makes it harder not to qualify for the knockouts than to get through – which means there's much less jeopardy and excitement in group stages.

The tournament is also over 5 weeks in length, it's too long and it already feels bloated. Sometimes having fewer games of football is a good thing.

Apparently

Due to fifa's new H2H rules, for the first time in World Cup history, we will see 2 teams actively wanting to lose a match.

In the Austria vs Algeria match, both teams are safely through after beating Jordan due to the new H2H rule. However, the team that finishes in 2nd in Group J will face Spain, when the team that finishes 3rd will likely face Switzerland.

Obviously with neither team wanting to face Spain, Austria will be hoping to lose and drop down to 3rd, whilst Alergia will be hoping for a draw or a loss to stay 3rd...

What a bizarre outcome this is..

All goes out the window if Spain lose to Uruguay though. Spain could still finish 3rd.

Reminds me of that infamous West Germany vs. Austria match in 1982.

Does anybody actually understand how the 3rd place opponents are allocated? I know that if we come top of our group we could face a 3rd place team from about five different groups and at the moment it is most likely to be Ecuador, but how is it ultimately decided?

Scenarios here based on who finishes in which group, and where they finish...

Argentina’s side of the draw looks potentially like a breeze for them till the semi finals whereas as the other side appears very heavy with favourites.

Just noticed there is a last 32 game tomorrow night .

Quick turn around our time from the last of the group games .
