Poor old Oxford. Signed a player from hearts they were excited about. Got a transfer embargo and he’s got injured and is out for the majority of the season. Could be a bumpy landing for them

Manchester City have sold academy graduate Reigan Heskey to Bundesliga side Cologne in a permanent deal worth up to nearly £6m (+ sell-on) signing a 4yr deal.
 

For all the clamber to get into their academy along with the ‘there is a clear pathway there..’ chat do the number of players that our/fans think actually make it at these clubs?

 

We have a thread titled ‘is there any point to our academy’ but this is the main reason of academies, they are designed to be cash cows with the odd prime calf making the 1st team.

 

The numbers are just bigger for those top 5 clubs, 6m for an 18yr old that’s played a total of 7 1st team minutes in the milk cup, I’m more surprised FC Koln actually paid that.
