Facilities like Seagrave only become an issue then they’re misused… if it’s properly utilised and ran, it’s a major asset.

Incorrect, they become an issue when the cost to run them significantly dwarfs the clubs income.

Lets say hypotheical you had 500 million knocking in your bank and decided to buy the club. In terms of running the club what would you do?

clear all debts and  you’ll be back to zero

seriously though, as a Leicester fan, I’d give a fans representative an equal vote/ voice on the board. I’d ask that representative to recommend transfers after  consulting fan boards . I’d do everything I could to build an unbreakable bond between the fans and the club.

After I've sacked Rudkin, really hard look at income and Seagrave hotel running costs. Can Seagrave generate income to meet a significant percentage of its day to day costs/ not football related i.e run as a separate enterprise. Detailed appraisal of the various development projects - is there a genuine market for any of these vanity projects?

Only when an owner cant afford them. They dont count towards PSR.

That wouldn't work - I might be out of touch but I'm not sure there is that kind of structure at any leading club in world football? By the time we had consulted fans over transfers the opportunity to buy said player would have been and gone. I think there are better ways for fan engagement than having a say on transfers

Without doing a mega long post that nobody will be bothered to read I’ll just stick to basics

There will be vacancies at board level even before you make any changes you want to make, it’s clear you need to go along the lines of what Sunderland & Brighton are doing with data analytics, you need to be doing what we have with the last few signings looking in minor foreign leagues for potential gems and commit to being a buy to sell club

I know it should be obvious but you need football literate people in most if not all of these board level positions

I’m in agreement with @MPH fan feed back would be one of the most important things, fans only want what’s best for the club so let them suggest  players or have a 3rd choice fans created edition kit

Of course it is, I really don't understand what the obsession is with getting rid of Seagrave on here, I also don’t understand why people can’t see that we as a club are a good option to buy especially compared to most other teams certainly in our current league and majority of teams in the championship apart from the playing squad everything else is to a premier league level, there is also hybrid planning permission for money making additions which should have little to no issues with being renewed as & when it expires

The fixation with Seagrave is the same as the fixation with Rudkin - a lot of our fans can't deal with the fact that what has happened is the result of many different factors, they need to have something to focus their anger on - Rudkin is most people's go-to scapegoat, his anonymity and the lack of actual understanding of his role makes it easy to blame him for everything relating to transfers, contracts etc - even things that have nothing to do with him, even now when he is no longer the DoF, fans on here are still quick to drag him out as the reson for anything they don't like.  Likewise, seagrave has been set up as the scapegoat for the lack of energy and commitment of the players - rather than blaming the apathy of the players it is much easier to create this image of seagrave as the root of everything wrong with performance.

Well it would be more like, window opens in two months, who would be your choice?” Of course that choice wouldn’t t be who we go for but we could give reasons as to why… cost too much, wanted too much money, didn’t want to come, etc..

Exactly. Or include them in planning the expansion, etc

If i spent 500M on a football club the last thing in the world i would do is allow some randomly nominated fan to sit on the board and recommend transfers! How absurd - the amount of money and resources that go into recruitment and you suggest allowing a fan to stroll in and recommend some player that everyone's been talking about on a fan board!

Yes, build a bond with the fans, but there are better ways to do it than that.

I love it. Ensure the club is data driven and using analytics to drive the club / squad moving forward. But get fans to decide.

You would probably need to be a billionaire but:

Fire Rudkin and appoint someone competent

Hire a top class director of football and go back to the Steve Walsh type model of signing players

Sack Russell Martin and try and get Nigel Pearson back. If he wouldn't come then someone similar.

Do the stadium project (We have to increase our revenue, this is the only way we will ever be able to grow, football related income is going to become more and more important as it determines how much we can spend on players)

Try and scale back costs at Seagrave. We don't need a golf course and could operate at a smaller level. Perhaps mothball the hotel if possible until we are promoted.

Try and get Vardy in for the season to bang in enough goals to get promotion.

Shift as much deadwood as possible.

That would get the ball rolling.

pretty sure we were doing data analytics when sunderland and brighton were dreaming of being as successful as us.  and our whole recent success has been based on scouring foreign leagues - it's not a case that we've started to do it, it's the case that we're able to go back to doing it.

Yes we were but we certainly had some luck as well, Mahrez wasn’t the player we originally scouted and wanted, same with Kante, we signed Leo Ulloa partly based on our players opinion, we have also had an incredible list of poor signings as well for decent money spent

First pro Rudkin I have seen on the forum, if you can't see how he is massively responsible for the catastrophic decline of the club then you are an ostrich.

I think this is where the "properly utilised" comment comes into play. If they had been then we would still be in the prem, and the running costs would be irrelevant. The only thing Seagrave has been utilised for seems to be the academy. The first team treat it like a luxury spa to doss around

Culture is the first thing. Get rid of all the bad eggs, both on and off the field, hire a proper recruitment team using data analysis, and fill the squad with pros rather than Chancers. You can keep sacking the manager every 6 months but until the root cause of our issues is addressed, every manager is on a hiding to nowhere.

The "pros" have done so much better over the last 5 seasons. Real top notch operators.

Give a random fan who is heavily into football manager a shot I reckon on balance they'd pick better players than this lot have

Notwithstanding, the point is that we were doing it years ago, as were most clubs.  Make no mistake, what brighton and sunderland are doing now is nothing new, they've just had a good run of success.
