Uncle Phil Posted 21 October 2012 Posted 21 October 2012 When I was a kid I used to have recurring dreams about ET Me too, I was only ever scared of him in dreams though. I was never scared of the film or anything. The most common one was he'd be stood at the end of my bed and he'd do that thing where his neck gets longer and try to grab my foot and I'd crap myself and wake up.
EnderbyFox Posted 21 October 2012 Posted 21 October 2012 When I was a kid I used to have recurring dreams about ET (the alien dude not Claridge scoring winners). For some reason I was terrified of him, especially that picture where he's dressed up in old woman clothes in the movie. He used to chase me around the house and I was always somehow injured and at a disadvantage, usually I'd be paralysed from the waist down. He'd eventually corner me and when I'd look in his eyes I'd 'die'. Sometimes I'd wake up straight away, but sometimes I'd be 'dead' but still be conscious, and sometimes I'd pretend I was dead so he'd leave me. Rarely worked though. There's one that I'll always remember, it's absolutely ridiculous. I must of been about 10. I was lying at the bottom of the stairs on my front, I tried to get up but couldn't move my legs. At the top of the stairs was my sister and one of her mates, she was about 15 in the dream, even though she's a year younger than me. I begged them to help me but they both just laughed and ran off. So I'm on the floor and I look into my kitchen which is the next room. Except in the kitchen is one of those talkshows like Jonathan Ross or Graham Norton, but there's no presenter, just a voiceover guy. And there's no stage or anything, just two stools for the guests. And the voiceover guy goes 'On tonight's show, talking about his new book, Gary Lineker' and Gary appears on one of the stools smiling and holding up the new book. Then the voiceover guy goes 'and....ET!' and ET appears on the other stool, with those dead, evil eyes staring at me. Needless to say I shat myself and then I woke up There was another one not long after that where a gorilla chased me and my sister round the house. That's terrifying !
Kitchandro Posted 21 October 2012 Posted 21 October 2012 That's terrifying ! Now you've done it. Haunting childhood memories are rushing back.
Vacamion Posted 21 October 2012 Posted 21 October 2012 This is the view from the ring road (Asquith Way) in the direction of the City Centre: I used to dream THIS about every two weeks between the ages of 11 and 16: I haven't lived in Leicester for many years, but driving over that bridge still freaks me the feck out...
yorkie1999 Posted 21 October 2012 Posted 21 October 2012 I have some amazing dreams.. Once i dreamt i was going out with this stunning brunette that looked like posh spice, i took her round a mates house and was bragging to a load of blokes about this new girlfriend, someone says lets have a look at her and i got her out of my pocket and she started dancing on the coffee table in front of everyone and she was only a foot tall, .i woke up pissing myself laughing and my mrs shaking me. Another one was i was fishing and this bloke from work, who looks like peter kay, pulled up in a bubble car covered in grass i jumped in with him and he drove to his house, which was a railway station and he was playing Amarillo on the radio. Then it started raining and the grass turned to mulch and he ran inside and came back out with a lawnmower!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 21 October 2012 Posted 21 October 2012 When I was a child I dreamt I was abandoned on an apartment block roof top in France (I have no idea how I knew it was France, you just do in dreams) and there was a door on the roof into a block, but when I openned it to go down there was just a room full of boxes and in the middle was a concrete bollard which was looking (yes, LOOKING) at one particular box and saying (YES it could TALK!) "Mummy, mummy, mummy," repeatedly, until it noticed me and turned to look at me. In the dream I slammed the door and ran for it! But there was no way down and I knew the concrete bollard was in hot pursuit as I could here the sound of concrete scraping on asphalt. Then I noticed a fire escape on the roof across from me, so I ran towards the edge and leapt for my life. As I leapt I glanced down and saw the bollard dash quickly across the alley and as I reached the fire escape I heard the CLANG, CLANG, CLANG of the bollard ascending the fire escape and so I ran back the way I had came and leapt the alley once again, though much to my dismay I saw the bollard once again dash across below me and seconds later the door of the room flew open (obviously, after first chasing me, it had closed it behind me) So this time I leap across, hear the CLANG, CLANG, CLANG but instead of doubling back I carry on over a few roofs and put some distance between myself and the bollard so that I finally descend a fire escape unmolested, but there is the bollard waiting for me on the corner of the street. Just as it starts to hurtle towards me, a car screeches up next to me (a Mercury Cougar Wagon) and some family friends bundle me into the car, slam the door behind me and screech off leaving the bollard in their dust. The family's mum says to me, "We've been looking everywhere for you, you're mum and dad were worried!" Scarred me for life.

Trav Le Bleu Posted 21 October 2012 Posted 21 October 2012 that is bizarre! Those bollards are such scumbags. I must have only been about 7 or 8 - can't even begin to fathom what my mind was thinking of!
Tom17LCFC Posted 21 October 2012 Posted 21 October 2012 Always have dreams where I'm running from something (never know what), and physically can't. I'll be able to stand up but my legs just don't work, or I'll struggle a few feet ahead and fall over. Not so much a dream but almost every day when I wake up at uni, I think I'm in my bed at home, and reach out to my bedside table that doesn't exist to turn the alarm clock off.
ScouseFox Posted 21 October 2012 Posted 21 October 2012 I used to have a recurring dream that I was stuck inside a giant Panda Pop. I used to just slowly drown. It was weird.
ithuriel Posted 21 October 2012 Posted 21 October 2012 Not a dream issue but when i was younger i used to wake up sometimes and literally not know who i was, where i was or what time it was etc., used to be really freakily scary just sitting there in bed trying to make sense of everything for a few minutes or seconds that seemed like minutes . Not happened to me in years though, thankfully.
Danno Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 I had a dream when I was 9 I was being chased by Eileen Grimshaw around my House. My second weirdest was covering myself in butter. Whenever I wet the bed as a kid I'd always dream I turned up at school with no trousers on for some reason, and then everyone would stare at me.. Weird. Also, whenever I had school holidays I'd always dream the holidays ended early.
Raw Dykes Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 When I was a kid, I had a dream that I was at my grandparents' house in Peatling Magna, and I noticed, looking through the patio doors, a 3' Easter Island statue at the end of the garden that wasn't there before. I went into the garden to have a closer look, but I took my eyes off it. When I looked up to where it had been, it was no longer there. I turned back towards the house, and I could see it at the other end of the lawn. It was always in a different place whenever I went round, but I never actually saw it move. I don't think I actually asked my grandparents about it in the dream, but I knew somehow that they weren't responsible. I remember it being right next to me when I turned round once. It really creeped me out. I'm pretty sure there's a fairly recent Doctor Who episode similar to this, but I had this dream about 20 years ago.

Yep, The weeping angels - living statues that turned to stone and were unable to move if someone was looking at them. Introduced in season 3 of the reboot (David Tennant's doctor). Got to love Doctor Who.

Its where part of your brain is still asleep, but part is awake (or something like that). Basically, you are aware you are awake, but part of you still thinks its dreaming but are unable to move, totally paralysed. One of the times I have had it, my eyes were open and I could see across the room, and could see a black outline of a figure at the other end, but was unable to say anything, or move at all until I literally used all my strength to toss myself out of the bed and snap out of it. Sounds crazy haha. Apparently its one way of accounting for 'UFO visitors', ie. Seeing the dark outline across the room. And in Victorian times it was beleived the devil/succubus was sitting on your chest...or something like that. Maybe Im just a freak that its happened to me about 4 times
vandamman Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 The only recurring dream I have is where I am driving a car but I cannot get it to stop and I end up swerving in and out of traffic. I understand this dream is quite common.

Maybe Im just a freak that its happened to me about 4 times Yeah used to happen fairly regularly, would wake up in the middle of the night normally after a fairly vivid and unpleasant dream, sometimes when I have forced myself to wake up and I open my eyes but I still haven't gained control of my body yet, and I can't move, and I do just have to force myself to roll over to snap out of it. It is not pleasant but not uncommon or anything to be worried about. Question does any else have backstories in their dreams? I will meet a character, dreamt up, but they are always more real than that, it will be like I have dreamt them before and they come with all these sort of memories, and the dream will feel like part of a much larger longer plot. I've asked others about it, and they look at me like I'm weird. The other thing that often happens in my dreams is I will wake up in my dream and be convinced I am awake, but I'm actually still dreaming and my day gets weirder until I twig I'm dreaming, then wake up again, but still dreaming. Is that just me?
Danno Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 Does anyone get one where they trip over and wake up suddenly?
FoxesAreBlue Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 Does anyone get one where they trip over and wake up suddenly? All the fvcking time, like ill fall of a curb or slip on an icy puddle, nothing life threatening, enough to make you "lose your balance" makes you jump and wakes you up practically shitting yourself. Reminds me of the film Inception!
Captain... Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 Does anyone get one where they trip over and wake up suddenly? I do if I'm drifting off, normally accompanied by a violent foot spasm, I had one once whilst in a hostel and managed to kick the top bunk, that hurt like fvck.
Fox in the North Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 Does anyone get one where they trip over and wake up suddenly? I get that abd then when I wake up my leg has jammed itself into the worst fvcking muscle pull imaginable that I can barely speak And that's usually at 4am

Is that just me? Yea I think 1 in 3 people will have sleep paralysis in their lifetime. Ive read up on it and not bothered by it, but when it happens it can be terrifying! I also have a recurring dream, which Ive had about 20 times now (literally) when UFOs all come down on the park behind my house after circling for a while, and I have to assemble everyone in the house to protect them, bar the doors and find weapons

It's not nice and reading up on it is more commen than I thought. I've had it many a times and you usually know when it's going to happen too ... Don't sleep on your back as I think that is one of the causes too...
