Mort Posted 5 June 2006 Posted 5 June 2006 The priority is the left wing. You need somone who can do the job that Tiatto is meant to do (!), you also need an anchor for the midfeild and much as i rate him Wesolowski doesnt seem like the right choice for that role... finding a replacement for Joey has to be the priority IMHO, if only we had the money for Muzzy
dandannieldanok Posted 5 June 2006 Posted 5 June 2006 The sunday people say MICAH HYDE from Burnley will join before the end of the week
The Reverend Posted 5 June 2006 Posted 5 June 2006 Very true and signing an apparent attacking midfielder doesn't guarantee you that but you do have to speculate to accumulate and try to sign a defensive midfielder limits your chances of getting that 5-10 goals from a midfield player even more. Especially with the limited transfer budget we have. I will wait ans see though, Hyde isn't quite as bad as i've made out but not the type of player I was genuinly hoping for. Its ok dreaming but we have to be realistic. Where are we going to get a 5-10 goal a season midfielder from? Perhaps it would also be a good idea to sign a proven 30 goal a season striker and a proven goalkeeper who concedes less than 20 goals a season! Its just ridiculous, especially for a club with extremely limited resources. We arent Chelsea you know! I also think Hyde would be a decent signing. He is getting on, but we need experience. I like the way Wesolwski plays more than anyone on here but i happen to appreciate that he is unproven thus far. The fact is we cannot rely on an 18 year old who has almost recovered from a broken leg. Its ok saying that Weso will be our main man next season but he could just as easy break his leg again and where does that leave us? Micah Hyde would be adequate cover and a good squad player. Who do you want f**king Makelele?

Who do you want f**king Makelele? That's exactly the type of player I don't want (and before you say it, I don't mean the quality of Makalele, I mean the role he plays) We don't need another defensive midfielder. If you read my posts above, I wasn't saying that it's easy to find a 5-10 goals a season midfielder but you can enhance your chances of getting one if you look to bring a midfielder in with attacking instincts. Micah Hyde who has a very poor goal scoring record for a midfielder in the 12-13 years he's been playing won't help us achieve this. At 31/32 it is very unlikely he will suddenly find how to score and that's my point. As a defensive midfielder Hyde would be a great squad player for us, but with our limited transfer budget we don't and can't afford to purchase 2 central midfielders. If we did sign Hyde then we'd have to rely on Wesolowski or Williams to provide us with 'goals' because Hughes will be employed as a winger and although he'll score his share, I was rather hoping that we'd also have a central midfielder to chip in like Gudjonsson did. Because take Joey's goals away and we possibly might be playing League One football next season. So don't start having a go at me being unrealistic because i'm not being. I'm fully aware of the financial bother we are in and that's why it's essential Rob Kelly is prudent with his budget and finds us the right players, however difficult it is for him. That's what makes a good manager, to wheel and deal. To unearth good players at cheap prices, but i'm also not going to shoot the man down if he can't always find them in abundance. But Micah Hyde isn't the answer, it's still early in to the pre-season so we don't need to rush in to signing a central midfielder. Are you telling me that Hyde is the only midfielder available in our budget? If so then it will be a hard summer and season for other clubs in our situation.

I put it to you that we are signing Micah Hyde as a squad player I put it to you that Burnley have him transfere listed = discount, hes old = discount, he's probabley on absloutley crap wages at Burnley as its all they can afford and we may get away with offering him even less = bonus. Obviously if its the only midfiled signing we are making this summer I wouldnt bother, but if this is to go with a big Attacking midfield signing im all for it. I know we haven't got much money but im sure A nominal amount of Hyde wont kill our budget.

Hyde isn't that bad a player as a squad filler on a short term deal if needed but if he's 'Joey's replacement' then it's rather disturbing.
Stevosevic Posted 6 June 2006 Posted 6 June 2006 http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/details.asp?b...6269754|p|536|0 doesnt look like Micah Hyde will be joining.

loza15 Posted 6 June 2006 Posted 6 June 2006 Colchester will replace Danns with Commons for 500k and expect loan signing of Kem's brother Muzzy Izzet to have been agreed between Birmingham and Col U. Aparently
isaidno Posted 6 June 2006 Posted 6 June 2006 Its in one of the papers today that we are signing Micah Hyde from Burnley. Any truth in the rumours ?
Phube Posted 6 June 2006 Posted 6 June 2006 where have you been the last week? I not sure what you mean by this either!! Perhaps Sileby and Wigston don't get the same club info as you!!!
loza15 Posted 6 June 2006 Posted 6 June 2006 Are they in the same league as us now? It was on www.football-rumours.co.uk
Polyphonic Posted 7 June 2006 Posted 7 June 2006 Are they in the same league as us now? It was on www.football-rumours.co.uk Ahh yeah .... although I am not sure what is less reliable the Mercury or football rumours ...
lcfc true blue josh 18 Posted 7 June 2006 Posted 7 June 2006 according to reports if he is sacked by wolves, he could well be coing to help us out. Rob kelly was quoted to say, "if he was to depart from wolves, then i would love it if he was interested in helping us out, its entirely up to him, but the door is open" would we really need his help,
Stevosevic Posted 7 June 2006 Posted 7 June 2006 Wolves have already stated that he will be their manager next season anyway, also where did your information come from that Rob Kelly said this?

This is coming from the bloke who is supporting Brazil in the world cup even though he's English
