The Running Man

Was hoping for something good or at least entertaining considering some of the talent behind it but my god what a let down. The original looks dated theses days but I’d say it’s still better than what I just watched.

Watched it last night. Wasn't amazing, wasn't shit.  Prefered the original, but it did keep me mildly entertained for a couple of hours.

Agreed. The main thing for me was that it lacked any of Edgar Wright's usual flair or style.

Yeah, very much strictly formula Saturday evening popcorn fare, not much of the charm of the original.

Glenn powell is not the leading man Hollywood want him to be unfortunately.

it's really good! love the writer, love the man.

You will like it unless you're pro Trump, Poutin, Farage, Meloni, Orban or Le Pen

Adaptation

I hadn't seen this in ages. Brilliant film, so cleverly constructed and executed. So many layers.

A movie about the struggles of a non-fictional screenwriter with a fake twin adapting a fictional story by an existing writer.

Very metaphysical, with that twist at the end.
And the cast. Nicolas Cage, Meryl Streep, Chris Cooper, Ron Livingston, Tilda Swinton, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Brian Cox, Cara Seymour.

I love Spike Jonze's output.

You Only Live Twice

Probably not the best Bond movie out there. I still love it to pieces, because it's partly funny, but mostly highly entertaining.

Nancy Sinatra's theme song is on par with Shirley Bassey's for Goldfinger.

And then there's that Toyota 2000GT.

Just come back from a special screening of Project Hail Mary.

One of the best movies I've seen in recent years. Visually stunning, hits all the right notes, there's wonder, sadness, thrill, albeit a bit overloaded score-wise – and slightly too long for my liking, at 2,5 hours, with an ending that drags on more than it should.

Still, highly recommended. Ryan Gosling in Space, more or less on his own... or is he?

Its the best audiobook I've ever listened to, so I'm hoping the film does it justice. Your review gives me hope!

Saw the Peaky Blinders film earlier in the week. We binged all 6 series in the last month or so, so the timing was perfect.

I enjoyed it but it wasn't as good as the middle series in my opinion. Less time to build up the antagonists etc. Very good music though as always especially the use of Angel by Massive Attack at one point
