Maverick. I waited 36 years for this...

Completely OTT, basically a remake of Top Gun, totally predictable, corny, cheesy, pure escapism.

I FVCKIN LOVED IT!

Great balls of fire!!!

I wonder what our RAF/Fleet Air Arm types think of it

I bet like me, they think it's the second best film in the history of cinema.

And they'd be right :D

I'm seeing it tomorrow or Friday. Looking forward to it.

I watched the original last week and it hasn't aged badly, but the cheesiness is much higher than I remember now I'm older and more cynical.

Mate, you'll love it. As pure cinematic experiences go, it's the best.

The cheesiness is all part of the fun IMO and some of the nostalgic nods to the original got me a bit emotional tbh.

The flight/action scenes are absolutely incredible. I'm going to see it again next week :D

It makes me chuckle that Jennifer Connoly is helicoptered in to be the love interest as Kelly McGillis is obviously too old for 59 year old Tom nowadays lol

To be fair she is 64 and rough as a badgers arse these days.

What would be your first? As far as aviation films go I'm more of a The Blue Max type

Without wanting to give away any spoilers, it's pretty cool how they bring Jennifer Connolly's character back from the original.

If you know, you know.

I’m amazed I’m saying this… but Top Gun Maverick is f******* brilliant. Not felt like that watching a film for a long long long looooong time.

Went to see Top Gun Maverick the other night. The general dialogue is much better than the original, and has far less cheesy lines and moments - Apart from one horrible one where Jon Hamm watches Tom do something particularly heroic, and he almost mugs to the camera and says "Maverick!"

I'd say the original's flight action scenes are still slightly better but they were still good in this though.

The only real criticism is the Jennifer Connelly character/story line. I felt sorry for her because she's completely redundant to the entire film. Nothing she does or says matters in the greater context. It's purely there to give Tom a romantic interest and a little comic relief.

Boiling Point was exactly the film I thought it’d be, and I found it predictable and boring.

Watched The Adam Project for the second time afterwards just to put myself back into a better mood.

Just want to join the Maverick love in. Absolute gold from start to finish.

Made even better by a lady behind me in floods of tears at most of the emotional bromance moments. Was infectious.
