Watched it last night ...  great film ...  really highlights how stressful it is in that sort of environment.   Highly recommended.

When i was young (mid teens) I worked as a waiter to earn some spendo ...  my aunty, mum, sister and several cousins did too.  Once at the Grand in Leicester I was waiting on a table of 10 at a works Christmas party and some balding middle aged bloke was really giving me a hard time ...  trying to impress the ladies on the table ...  I told my older sister ..  she said swap with me and point out who it was ...  the soup course was just coming up ...  she filled the bowl right up and walked towards him ...  he didn't half squeal when she 'accidentally' tripped and it went all over his groin ...  ;)    True story.

Once Upon a Time in the West, a Western epic directed by Sergio Leone

A must see if you are into the genre or exploring it. For me it's more polished than Leone's spaghetti Western trilogy with Clint Eastwood (which I also like).

One of my favourites and I watch it every couple of years.

Encanto is on once a day at the minute as the baby loves it and must say the songs are brilliant. Good film.

I thought the film didn't need the songs, which are all very formulaic and just the same as on any other recent Disney film.

If the baby gives it two thumbs up, your opinion is wrong :)

This looks like another insane film by Alex Honnold. 'Free solo' is still one of the most staggering things I've ever seen. The VR element of this should be amazing

Watched Free Solo and thoroughly enjoyed it. Will probably watch and enjoy this too. However, part of me does hate myself for watching middle class nobs being middle class nobs.

Watched many saints of Newark. Prequel to the sopranos. Disappointed with it. Was ok. Expected more from it.

Same here. Very average.

Coda - essentially a coming of age film.

Well acted, very watchable with a few interesting USPs. But for me, it was by no means exceptional and certainly not Oscar worthy.

Pulled a late night watch of Braveheart on BBC 1 on Friday night.

First time I've watched it in HD and it makes a big difference, one of the all time great films.

9/10.

Despite what the filmmakers tell you about it its quite an inaccurate film.  Although having said that it is a great film.  Very enjoyable.

I'm trying to get it together to watch it a second time but not with any hopes that it will be better. I thought that the early scenes in Tony Soprano's life were handled much better in the television version (with the exception of Livia Soprano's meat fetish - it did rather seem to me that a roomful of top-class writers might be capable of showing the 'you will have to bring home the bacon' in perhaps a more subtle way), but there are a lot of more pressing matters than criticising the writing of 'The Sopranos' which is wonderful beyond description.

I have recently bought eleven films by Pedro Almodovar, on the basis that I'd never seen a film by him. This was a mistake. He is said by Empire 'to have blasted the dust off Spain's film-making' presumably by bringing his own personal hang-ups about sex to life through a series of improbable plots and extremely bad acting, often by the same people. I wouldn't mind if they were reasonably interesting hang-ups but they're not really. The premise of 'Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down' is that you can get a woman to love you by tying her up repeatedly until she gives way and says 'It's all right, I love you now, you can untie me'. It is difficult to imagine a British director getting away with this, even if they would want to, which is unlikely. Those women who would see this film and think 'Well, I wouldn't mind if it was Antonio Banderas' would probably not say so in public.

Yes, All About My Mother is OK. My favourite among the camp and garish early films is What Have I Done To Deserve This?, which did make me smile. I also got Julieta (2016) which shows that he's in danger of becoming a real film director :)

did anyone watch 'Locke' (2013)  basically the entire film is Tom hardy making phone calls from his car...sounds dull right? well actually compelling viewing..anyway ive just seen 'Nightride' on netflix and its a similar concept where its all done in one take and its mostly one character (in this case a drug dealer in N. ireland) making phonecalls whilst driving around and again its really good...
