Going back to Adam Sandler, Jack and Jill is a borderline scam of a film. It's not actually a movie but an excuse for Sandler and his failed snl buddies to make big money with minimum effort. The Red Letter Media review of it is a masterpiece of film criticism.

Wasn’t that the knock on him with his first couple netflix movies?

That he took the money and used it as an excuse to hang with his buddies?

Just back from watching Elvis, which I thought was brilliant.

It’s a bit long and as it goes on it can’t sustain the bonkers intensity of the first half, but it really captures the sort of dangerous ‘energy’ that Elvis seemed to have.

Not a fan of Elvis personally, but would be interested to see this and it's also interesting to see Tom Hanks for the first time ever play a bad character.

See For Me - above average thriller about a blind girl who has to fend off thieves who break into the house she is staying at for the weekend 6/10

King Richard was half decent. Will Smith really portrayed Richard Williams quite well.

Went to the cinema a couple of times last week for the first time in ages.

Top Gun Maverick - Exactly what you’d expect following the enormously popular first one.

Lightyear - Not even sure why I went to see this, probably the Toy Story link. Completely different story line to any Toy Story. Worth a watch for anyone who loved the Toy Story films as a youngster. Actually quite funny too. I had a major hangover but had said I’d go, fully expecting to sleep through it.

As much as I loved the first one, it's a bit sad to see them all still trotting another out at their time of life.

I was a HUGE View Askew fan in my youth (so much so that I have a picture of me standing outside the QuickStop in NJ) so I loved the universe he was creating at the time. I'm glad now that he went off and did other things and that we get to check in on these characters every decade or so. If you know anything about Smith's life the last few years Clerks III will definitely be his most personal flick. He did Jay and Silent Bob Reboot a few years ago after he had a massive heart attack and lost SO much weight; J&SBR was decent fanservice I felt. Cannot wait for this personally!!

Thor Love & Thunder.

Not great unfortunately. Starts off funny, then they just keep going way too hard with the humour and it just wears thin. The bad guy isn't really that bad or scary, and ultimately doesn't do anything. The whole thing is very inconsequential and meaningless unfortunately.

4/10.

I 100% agree with what you've said, way too much forced comedy and cheap laughs. Gorr doesnt come across as a major threat really, though Bale played him well.

Way too much reliance on GnR as a soundtrack too.

I did enjoy Russel Crowes performance.

The best thing for me was the mid-credit scene...End credit scene was just as bad as Spidermans IMO

6/10 for me

Kevin and Perry Go Large set for sequel nearly 22 years after the first film! going to be interested to see if this works with the new audience.

It didn't work the first time.

Thor’s pants. Like a clapped out band playing the same tunes from years ago. I agree that Crowe’s cameo as good fun though.

I enjoyed Shang-Chi and Spidey but the recent stuff has been boring.  It’s TV output where this can afford to be less formulatic is great - I hope they show the same invention to the films
