Daggers Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 I keep getting a cold feeling running down my spine everytime someone refers to Mandaric as "Uncle Milan". The mental image is too much for one person to bear.

Mort Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 You appear to be confused. If Mandaric buys us, we do not turn into Inter Milan. I wasnt being totally serious bout Pedersen... but the likes of Hendrie, Halford, McAnuff and a decent/experianced striker are all realistic transfere targets.

They'd all cost ALOT though, Milan Manadric is no bottomless pit as some people seem to think he is. We will still have to buy carefully.
davieG Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 They'd all cost ALOT though, Milan Manadric is no bottomless pit as some people seem to think he is. We will still have to buy carefully. Apparently never spent more than £2m on a single player.
lcfc_jme Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 Apparently never spent more than £2m on a single player. T'is very careful then isn't it?? If it works out though, I won't be complaining. It's better than what we can afford for a player atm So does this mean we aren't going to get to buy the things/people we've asked for in this thread?
Master Fox Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 Apparently never spent more than £2m on a single player. When was last time we spent £2m on player Davie G..?? The fact that me might be able to have a £2m transfer budget compared £0.00 is pretty good.

I wasn't complaining I was stating a fact in the cause of accuracy and sensible posting. I'd be amazed if we needed to spend anything like that on a single player to get out of this league.

The fact that me might be able to have a £2m transfer budget compared £0.00 is pretty good. And he did't say otherwise. He was just agreeing with me, Mandaric is no bottomless pit so don't expect 4 million pound signing left right and centre The first player I'd like to see putting pen to paper if we're taken over - Gareth Williams on a new deal.
gatesheadfox Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 the last time we spent as much as 2million would have been for dennis wise wouldn't it? if you look at how much we have spent on hume, and what other teams spend on quality players (for this division) we don't need anywhere near that much. but say 3or4 players combined to make up that much money and we'd be looking good
The People's Hero Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 Wise was £1.6 million wasn't he? We didn't end up paying it all anyway as it was based on appearances and we stopped playing him a few games before we were due to pay Chelsea more money.

Why??? He hasn't exactly set the world on fire has he? You don't need to spend £4m on a player to get out of this league, with a few extra additions to our current team I believe would have more than an adequate squad. If were to get promoted then I would expect him to pay up for at least three or four top class players

We didn't end up paying it all anyway as it was based on appearances and we stopped playing him a few games before we were due to pay Chelsea more money. i remember walker and wise were bought for around about £2m each, after appearances......might be wrong as it was easy to lose track of what rubbish taylor bought for what price. i can't believe how little he wasted on damien delaney - what was he thinking?!? could have at least offered £10million for the lad

If were to get promoted then I would expect him to pay up for at least three or four top class players Because he is clearly one of the more talented members of the squad, he's looked good this season ( as well as the later stages of last season) is young and is yet to hit his prime, and seeing him walk out the door for nothing is senseless. This is what annoys me, the "he hasn't set the world on fire" so F**K em off on a free and Uncle Milan can sign Lee Hendry for 3 million pounds attitude, I think not somehow, Gareth Willams hass got the potential to be prem class. And I'm well aware we don't have to spend 4 million pounds a player to get out of this league, I wasn't the one suggesting McAnuff and Pedersen.

I've always liked Gareth Williams, but he just never seems to produce when we need him to. I mean people have been saying for while now since Adams signed him that he is a real top class player but we've only ever seen glimpses. I hope I'm wrong and he full fills his potential like so many players currently at our club so we don't have to purchase players like Lee Hendry for £4.5m

bold_fox Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 Do you think that MM will have a big infleunce in bringing in overseas players ? ? Was it him at Pompey that bought in all the oversea trash that they had last year ? ?
Katy Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 Calm down ay lads, we are a long way off anything being concrete yet.
