The book I ordered from America - Java Network Programming - arrived today. Well, a book arrived today. Inside the package was "Good Night, Baby", a delightful book for infants where they can press buttons to get sounds at points in the story. I am sure that it is also invaluable when it comes to interfacing networks with java too...it's just I would have preferred the book I paid for.

The Student Loans Company informed me that they could not tell me the reason for the letter they had sent me asking for a load of money and refered me to the LEA. The LEA expressed surprise, and suggested I phone the Student Loans Company.

The world is run by idiots.

It appears to me like a genuine mistake. It’s just unfortunate. Maybe you could read ‘Good Night, Baby’ and get pleasure from it? You might find it inspiring?

Look on the bright side, a new computer genius has been found because somewhere there is a baby learning java network programming.

Here is the driver:

of this very bus:

That tried to run me and my kids down while we were crossing a pedestrian crossing.

...and then tried to run me over while I took his photo

I HATE BUS DRIVERS.

Maybe that should be rephrased as I hate the 'soon to be unemployed bus driver'

What sort of nutcase thinks that the Student Loans Company is running the world?

The world is clearly run by a bloke in a warehouse in Hertfordshire packaging up books ordered on the internet.

what a strange bump

Not a bump to the OP, just the title. No point starting a thread with the same name.

We could probably have just a few threads:

- Grinds the gears (annoyed on the roads could go in here)

- What I like

- How was your day

- Film thread

- TV thread (Breaking Bad goes in here)

- Photo thread (funny or otherwise, including celebs)

- Video (and GIFs... seriously, they are not photos)

- Jokes

- Tinder (definitely needs it's own thread)

- Fitness (Gym and running)

- Holidays (A week in Liverpool? and the holiday thread)

- Terrorism and Racism

- Other news

- Questions (Driving on the continent, Shaven/unshaven, etc)

But unfortunately, lots of people like to make threads about rubbish topics, or sub-topics of existing threads...

surely by having such vague thread titles then there would be too many conversations taking place over multiple topics on the same page. It would become really messy and the forum would suffer for it.

At least the way it is now people can go onto specific threads rather than having to read stuff they arent interested in inbetween the stuff they're interested in.

By adding to this thread and not creating a new one of similar stuff to this already existing thread, Merging cultures has successfully stolen the thunder from a trigger happy Moderator.

God Bless you, dear moderators... there will be other opportunities i am sure...

Mark's pretty relaxed about starting new threads, that said there's no harm done. A bit of a fuss about nothing.

I get your point and to be fair it isn't so bad on the General forum... but the main forum is a nightmare.

i was only joking please dont ban me!!!!!!!!

Noticed that a few relatively new members have started new threads, which relate to something/someone that's high on the thread list - that have been removed.

I won't ban you but for the next 3 days I shall frown when I read your posts. Let that be a warning to you.

Anyway, this thread could be used to post news stories that arent necessarily funny, but involve stupid people doing stupid stuff. Like killing themselves with a firework.

He went out with a bang

Linked stories to it include a guy who launched a firework from his head... needless to say he died instantly.

Stupid people are the reason we can't have nice things. They ruin everything for everyone else. The Government, companies and society have to lower standards to the lowest common denominator.
