The commentators have all been decent this time out. Like the Leics combo and have always loved the soft dulcet tones of the Welsh lot.

Hopefully Mark Davis will be commentating for the Somerset game.He played in the very first match I attended Sunday league v Somerset 1986.Still haven't forgiven Lloyd Tennant for bowling Botham out for a duck.

Believe they ran it by the ECB before the Yorkshire match & got it cleared- can't imagine anything has changed.

The Yorkshire pitch played far better than this one though, each pitch is marked by the referee by how it plays. I’m not sure what they will make of this one.

It certainly favours the bowlers, which doesn't necessarily make it sub-standard. 

 

Given where we are in the table, we probably needed to roll the dice a bit- draws are no good and the weather won't do us any favours from here on in.

Totally understand that. It’ll either be an above average or a below average, the latter can possibly have consequences over the next 12 months as I think if the club have 2 below average pitches over that period then it’s a possible point deduction as we have not prepared the best pitch we possibly could.

I'm not sure a 'bad' pitch could produce a 1-run difference between first innings. Bowler-friendly, but that's pretty consistent.

Yeah, completely depends on how the match referee views it. Although that system is nonsensical- half of the pitches every season would fall into the below average category if they applied the rule literally 

 

I really don't mind bowler-friendly tracks anyway (within reason). Particularly given that half the season will now be played in the autumn. No point preparing a pitch which will produce scores of 400-odd then deteriorate when you're losing 2 days to rain.

The only team to score more than 197 is Somerset (469!). This is a countrywide situation.

Very knowledgable commentators. I’ve been listening without watching and they describe the game very well. No beating, happily.

Really sad Rishi is leaving. He’s been a real asset. I genuinely feel he is close to international standard. He may yet get his chance at the highest level

You can't be serious? He flatters to receive too often. His 100 in the metro Bank was sublime but he doesn't get get enough scores in the championship. Nowhere near international standard.

Hants not getting their own way against Yorkshire. Fingers crossed we can win this but then does Rishi get buyers remorse? Also as we get closer to the end of the season is their a conflict of interest forming for him if Hants continue to struggle and we remain in the hunt for survival?

He’s 8th in the division one leading run scorers table. Averaging 42. Yes he gets out with some frustrating shots, not least just now, but in my opinion, his ceiling is very high.

He's 28. I reckon he's pretty much reached his ceiling. Career average of 35. He is great occasionally but mostly frustrating because he has the talent but gives his wicket away.
