Soar Fox Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 Why are teams like Norwich, Wolves, Sheff Wed getting linked with players like Eastwood and Sharpe wolves get Jarvis? Who do we get linked with Clive Platt and Izale Mcleod thought we had a little bit of money to spend.
potter3 Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 I guess this has been merged? I'm clueless as to what player your discussing here Yeah it was a topic about Lee Cook originally

Being 'linked' with players means nothing and most of the time they are just creative journalism to fill gaps in columns. Its kind of a case of 2+2=5. I would much rather we invested our efforts into players that we could realistically sign rather than Norwich trying to get in £2m strikers who they don't stand a chance of signing, especially as they are really struggling financially. It doesn't matter who gets linked with who...it only matters which players put pen to paper.
Ric Flair Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 Bryan Hughes - on a free, would be a good signing. Would be a very good signing, and is in talks with Hull! The attacking midfielder we need if we miss out on Hendrie.
breadandcheese Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 I wouldn't say no to Nardiello from Barnsley. Only 20, scored 9 in 19 last season according to Teamtalk and looking to move to the Midlands to be nearer his home. A pure goalscoring striker, who I'd prefer to Fryatt. Surely we could get him ahead of QPR. http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...2450523,00.html

breadandcheese Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 He's about to sign for them today That I did not know. Oh well. Next. Edit: Only now as I browse general sport, do I realise there was a topic all about his Barnsley U-turn. Having read that, I retract my earlier wish to see him in a Leicester shirt. Fickle fans I tell you.
Stevosevic Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 I find it funny how people would prefer lots of strikers to Fryatt, but forget that they are usually what Fryatt was before he joined us.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 Nicholls in talks with Preston. Gutted. I wanted him here. 2 of him, Kish and Weso in the middle would be solid, solid as a rock.

Couldn't agree more. He is a player we should have been looking at. Preston are making some pretty astute signings. Billy Jones, now Nicholls. I'm surprised Nugent isn't having his head turned to give Preston one more year. They're certainly one of the stronger teams in the division and would be expected to at least make the play-offs.

I like to think its all down to the addition of Rob K*lly and his "extensive knowledge of the English game" to their coaching staff
The People's Hero Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 Wants to leave Leeds. Preston apparently in talks with the club about the possibility of signing him. Good player. Long admired him. Complete midfielder really. Athletic, battling, good passer of the ball, motivates, shouts... all action player. Would love to see us in for him. He's EXACTLY the sort of player we not only need... but also the kind of player we should be looking to compete for if we're serious about promotion. Anyone agree? (Apart from Fez who I know will be dead keen).
potter3 Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 From what I've seen and heard, I'd say yes. On another note you have 158 posts and counting for today
The People's Hero Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 Really? Ow. Partly down to last night I suppose. No money so can't go out with my housemates to the pub.
Mort Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 It'll be a week or two before he'll be able to finalize any move from Leeds (ditto Healey) coz of the fall out from going into admin... but i agree he'd be an astute signing IMHO, we'd still be looking for some decent attacking (dare i say goal scoring?) midfield players...
Manwell Pablo Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 Was he the one they signed from Luton? Yeah, and prometly revealed he wanted to go back to Luton when it all started going tits up. He was excellent for Luton but underperformed last year, as did most of the Leeds team. I'd say he's better than anything we currently have in the attacking midfield role. Partly due to the fact that we have Andy King, and thats it.

I reckon he could do a job box-to-box if required... He should be one of the first names on the team sheet if we got him in, he's got a bit of quality about him. All action but doesn't look rushed. He was poor last year but I'm willing to give him benefit of doubt. The club was being managed by 2 clowns and morale was rock bottom. He wanted out. We're not going to be signing top quality players in their prime with no risk attached. For me, Nicholls is a must-pursue.
lookwhaticando Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 Jason Wilcox(who remembers his fan-club?) We all remember JWAD. Unofficial fan club for 'Jase'.
