Koke Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 Poll retired and then he decided to have a pop at the FA. He surely wont be missed. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/6703221.stm
Simi Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 Poll retired and then he decided to have a pop at the FA.He surely wont be missed. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/6703221.stm Why ? On his day he was a decent referee. When there are the likes of Mark Clattenburg and Lee Mason still officiating it's sad to see Poll leave. Regardless of the high profile mistakes he made.
Koke Posted 30 May 2007 Author Posted 30 May 2007 He's one of those that, like so many of them really, will crawl through glass before admitting a mistake.
Simi Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 He's one of those that, like so many of them really, will crawl through glass before admitting a mistake. Maybe so. How the media like to build Poll up as 'loving the spotlight' really gets on my nerves. He doesn't do it purposley does he? The split second he gets to react to a tackle for example could result in the wrong decsion. But it will take a minute or so for the commentators to look at the reply to determine that he made the wrong decsion.
James. Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 I think he's a big twat and the world of football is better off without him.
Jay Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 I think he's a big twat and the world of football is better off without him. agree with that!! the way he smiled/laughed everytime he sent someone off or disallowed a vital goal was bound to just wind up players, fans and management and the fact he did all the time made him look like a total ar5ehole
lildave3 Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 I think he's a big twat and the world of football is better off without him. Agreed.
Tubes Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 I think he's a big twat and the world of football is better off without him. i will second that
MC Prussian Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 Oh, what a tragic event. NOT. The world of football's a better place now.
Ashley Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 Oh, what a tragic event.NOT. The world of football's a better place now. Its still the same rennie still in the game :l

Joe. Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 Who cares? He's crap, and just about every other referee is too
lildave3 Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 Who cares? He's crap, and just about every other referee is too You do it then.
Thracian Posted 31 May 2007 Posted 31 May 2007 Maybe so.How the media like to build Poll up as 'loving the spotlight' really gets on my nerves. He doesn't do it purposley does he? The split second he gets to react to a tackle for example could result in the wrong decsion. But it will take a minute or so for the commentators to look at the reply to determine that he made the wrong decsion. Absolutely. And these football commentators/journos would make stacks of mistakes if they didn't have their replays or loads of guys in a Press Box they could check with. Poll made his mistakes - which referee or footballer doesn't - but he was generally a decent refereee. Can't help but agree with the idea of Uriah Rennie retiring though - and a good few I've seen at the Walkers particularly in the 2005/2006 season.
Daggers Posted 31 May 2007 Posted 31 May 2007 Without huge salaries or proper protection from the FA the quality of refereeing will continue to decline. Who on earth would want the job in this day and age? Currently, the same kind of people that wake up in the morning and think "Hmm...traffic warden...that sounds an enjoyable job". While refs have to pander to overpaid tarts on the big stage and villainous hooligans on the small one nothing will improve. Drastic fines and bans have to be implemented. There's more chance these days of finding an intelligent, likable person in the Big Brother house than there is of Refs commanding respect on the pitch. Plus, a ref would be more likely to get a blow job if he went on Big Brother. I think we need to support our refs.
Flynny Posted 31 May 2007 Posted 31 May 2007 Who cares? He's crap, and just about every other referee is too What a ridiculous comment. Poll was a decent referee villainised to an extent by the media. I'm not sorry to see him go, but he was definately one of the best referees we had.
DB11 Posted 31 May 2007 Posted 31 May 2007 After reading what the article, if what Poll has said is true, then surely you must agree with what he's saying about the FA must support the referees
filbertway Posted 31 May 2007 Posted 31 May 2007 I always moan about refs, but when you take a step back, you realise that we wouldn't have the game we do if we didn't have refs, you have to understand they have a job, especially those at the top, making big decisions in a split second. So of course some will make mistakes, but in the main, Refs do a decent job and help the game to continue.
shen Posted 1 June 2007 Posted 1 June 2007 He was very very good in this Championship playoff final a few days ago...
