Babylon Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 I've been thinking about N'Gotty. Players with a pedigree like that can often comfortably piss about at a lower level when they get in to their mid thirties. I think he'll add some presence and experience. I just hope we don't sell Kisnorbo as a result of this. What if selling him means buying Ilic and Saganowski?
Hullfox Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 I'm impressed with MA's tone as much as anything. I like the way he openly appreciates other people can help him out moving forward.

Mr Happy Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 Lets just hope the likes of Mcauley and stearman aren't star struck by Bruno and his impressive pedigree. Nielsen for the number 1 jersey then??

The People's Hero Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 You'd hope - but he was frozen out of the Brum side by people without his pedigree...and only forced his way back in by adopting a right-back role.My heart wants him to be great, my head is worried...but I'll trust to the two men rebuilding the whole club: I can't see that we can afford to lob out Kis unless we are signing more defenders, but if we replace him qith quality I'm not going to grouse. I'm just happy that stuff is now happening - roll on the pre-season All true.... But to be fair, he did play for a long time as a right sided full back for France. And France weren't a bad side at the time either.

mancunianfox Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 Casino Jimmy - With that hair / shirt / jacket combo I love him already. In fact I think that pattern should be adopted as our 1st choice keepers kit next season. That would certainly unsettle the opposition strikers. lookwhaticando Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 From the OSJimmy Nielsen Factfile Posted on: Mon 04 Jun 2007Leicester City confirmed the capture of Danish goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen on Monday. After a short period in England with Millwall, Nielsen returned to hometown club AaB Aalborg in 1995. He has not missed a Danish Superliga game since 1997 - racking up an impressive 398 appearances along the way. Nielsen has represented his country at both under 19 and 21 level. He was named Danish goalkeeper of the year in both 1998 and 2004. Nielsen will join up with his new team-mates for the first time when they return for pre-season training at the Belvoir Drive training ground on Monday, July 2. Since it hasn't been mentioned anywhere in here yet... He has signed a two-year contract with the club, keeping him at the Walkers Stadium until at least the end of the 2008-09 campaign. So both incoming players are here until 2009.

According to the Danish media, he had a release clause in his contract. In Danish terms, that sum is a handy one, but considered cheap for an English club of our size. That's my guess anyway. Hope he becomes a success. Our past experiences with Danish players (tbh only Laursen springs to mind) haven't been good. Good to see N'Gotty coming here. I'm not sure about offering him a 2-year contract though...

London_Fox Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 I would imagine a two year deal was his condition for signing. Makes sense for him, maybe not so much for us but if MM is willing to take the risk he can always pay him off after a year.
