dandannieldanok Posted 1 July 2007 Posted 1 July 2007 Soares is top-notch, £1million is nothing considering the shite we have had to put up with in that midfield. He is quick and reasonably intelligent on the ball, his versality would be a major plus too. Get him in!

MPH Posted 1 July 2007 Posted 1 July 2007 This is going to be a real interesting season,judging by who we have signed and who we may sign it look's like we are going to have a team full of players with a point to prove in one way or another...be that staying injury free,justifying their price tag or simply forfilling their full potential!...can't wait looking at the players we have signed so far... im not at all dissappointed with them but im not excited either. I think the fun is about to start. Nothing against the players but they have all been out of contract because they havnt been wanted by anyone else. That isnt to say they are not good players, but they are not exceptional either. All the exceptional bosman deals will of possibly of been tied up by pre-contract agreements in jan.. So... im very interested to see what the next week or 2 brings.. some of our signings will be based upon what other clubs are able to get. and other clubs have started to make signings... For example, kapo signing for brum makes clemence available, ect..... let the fun begin!!!!!

I think that we will have to splash out 500k to 1mil if we want to get a decent central midfielder in. Its a key position and there aren't really any quality midfield players about on frees.

We've offered a contract to Hendrie, if we signed him then we would have four central midfielders, i dont think we will see more than that.

You can still pick up a decent central midfielder for less than that, but I do agree it's a key position that we must fill. Certainly has a bit of ability though and as has been pointed out, physical presence so better than everything we currently have! For £1million though I reckon there are better (albeit possibly short term) options.

Agreed, although one of the issues with the free agents is that we are competing with so many different clubs as they will usually have offers from many different clubs to choose from. That is the reason why I fell that money will have to be spent on buying a central midfielder if we are to bring in a good player.
