Fox Mental Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 Hello, had posted this on talking balls but as per usual it ended up as inane drivel so wondered what you guys thought. after having watched Leicester against Hinckley and Notts County i still can't understand why Henderson is being frozen out of the club. Nielsen looks very weak especially on crosses which we nearly conceed from against Notts and did against Hinckley. as well as this his ownly other season in england was hugely unsuccessful and his wealth of experiance has been totted up in a leauge which is a long way from championship standard! Logans organisation, judgement and all other aspects of goalkeeping bar shot stopping are severely second rate, as have been proven in his end of season spell under Worthington! Henderson IMO is a long way the best goalkeeper we have at the club and the treatment he has rtecieved has been very unfair. he is an excellent shot stopper and whilst not brilliant at organising or crosses, he is better than the other two and has already had experiance at this level. I think for the club to seriously contend for top 6 Logan must be disregarded as an option and hendersomn should be given fair chance to battle for the number 1 shirt which i think in his time at leicester he has proved he deserves it.

Flynny Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 Henderson is an average keeper who is solid, if unspectacular, in most departments except distribution, where he's progressed from 'dire' to 'not great'. From time to time he has a superb game, and shot stopping is probably his biggest strength. I've not seen Nielsen, but I've absolutely no problem with playing Henderson and consider him slightly superior to Logan, probably mostly due to experience.

Henderson - no distribution, no communication, doesn't commad his area, weak at crosses, positioning sense of Paddy McCarthy. Logan - can punt it long, but has the same deficiences as Henderson. Nielsen - scaring the living bejesus out of me at the minute. Douglas - I know his issues too well. I reckon Allen really needs to find another GK.

lee7 Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 henderson is the best goalkeeper at the club at the minuite no doubt about it. logans kicking is shocking he either kicks it to far or can't find anyone with his clearances. i haven't seen nielsen play yet but by the sounds of it he isn't any good either. when neil alexander left cardiff that we should of signed him he's a decent keeper.

Jimmy Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 by the same token logan had a period where he was outstanding, maybe thats what kept us up? henderson is simply not good enough to be 1st choice logan is young and learning and personally i'd send him on loan for the season to a mid league 1 - upper league 2 side to get a season of consistant competitive football under his belt. as for nielsen, not seen enough of him to make a judge but i'm not as worried as others on here

davieG Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 Logan kept clean sheets in two vital games, Preston & Barnsley at the end of last season. The truth is you can't split Logan & Henderson in terms of ability, they are both as bad/good as each other. I suspect everyone was hoping for a new superior goalkeeper yet it would appear that we have more of the same. To make it worse I don't believe Stowell is the guy to improve them, if in fact they can be improved - he certainly hasn't made much of an impact on their ability in the last year or so. My only hope was that Nielson, playing behind a group of strangers was lacking in confidence and that his game would improve but even that is a faint hope as Shep describe his apparent weaknesses before he played a game for us. The fact that M Allen has taken them all to Scotland seems to indicate he's having the same problem.

So if he has a nightmare then it's because he's technically a mess and we don't need that, not when we're looking at having a go at promotion this season.

Don't think we'd have too much trouble shipping Henderson out on a free, he appears to have a fairly good reputation in the game as a good shot-stopper. Appreciate your point about goalkeepers though. Especially on these long contracts.
