BigGibbo Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Dunno if he has been mentioned before, but I have always mentioned him whenever the LCFC managers job has become available. And that man is Gary Johnson. The man with no weaknesses Ive championed his cause he's on my shortlist of three
vcmazz Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Hi Foxes, hope you don't mind a Bee having his say. Martin would, and this isn't open to debate, have got you to the play offs at the very least this season. And if he had, the odds are that you would have won them - just look how unlucky he's been. It would surely have been his turn. Martin Allen is set to become one of this country's managing greats. Forget all this bollocks about how he's never managed at this level before - if he can do it paying players £400 a week, he can do it at any level. Mourinho? DO ME A FAVOUR!!! Let's see him get Torquay back up out of the Conference. Shralex? Ditto. Bullshit, both of them. Just happened to have more money than anyone else at the time. Martin is the man. But I'm afraid you might just have a mad man running your club. He can sue me if he likes. Everything I've got might just pay for a pair of laces for the new boss's boots. Thing is, I sort of feel sorry for you because above all else, you're going to miss out on a lot of fun with Martin. He is mad. He'll have players swimming in icy lakes ten minutes before a match to toughen them up - but he'll do it himself as well. But above all else, he would walk from Lands End to John O'Groats if it meant raising a tenner for your club. But mad as he is, everything he ever did while at God's chosen football club (Brentford) earned nothing but 100% respect from players and fans alike. I'm sorry youy won't be getting to know Martin Allen. God knows we miss him - perhaps it is a blessing for you that you can't miss what you never had. I wish you luck but fear that your only chance now is that Milan get's a dirty arse and offers his friend Harry lots of money for players if he'll come and wipe it again. Best of luck!

I would have liked MA to of stayed, the man has so much passion on the touch line and it was great to have him with us,and I do believe he would of got us up.But on saying that Milan has decided he wants someone new and I strongly believe more than ever now we are going to get promotion.Because Milan has done this against the majority of the fans wishes he will prove to everyone his decision was the right one.He is a ruthless business man and he will do whatever it takes to get us up.
surrifox Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Sunday Times (which correctly stated last week that Allen would be out before the Plymouth game ) says it will be Reid
Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 I will be absolutely devastated if it's Peter Reid.
maddog Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 I will be absolutely devastated if it's Peter Reid. Carlos Queiroz would it be possible to get him? I here it could be Rudd Gullit. Carlos Queiroz would be good, i heard a few months ago he wanted to be a full manager. Disastrus if it is Peter Reid. Jewell would be good. Carlos Queiroz, Ruud Gullit, Paul Jewell or Brendan Rodgers for me.
onetruefox Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 I will be absolutely devastated if it's Peter Reid. Dont worry if it is,he wont last long, will give him about 5 games before he gets the vote of confidence.

Carlos Queiroz, Ruud Gullit, Paul Jewell or Brendan Rodgers for me. Gullit would be the type of energy surging signing that would be exactly what Milan would want, succesful to a limit in this country and a legend as a footballer so maybe MM would appreciate his view more than he did MA. However, I think he is out of our league to be honest and even further away is former Real Madrid manager Carlos Queiroz, who I feel is being groomed to take over from Sir Alex when he fooks off.
Jay Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 I will be absolutely devastated if it's Peter Reid. agreed I would be crying into my keyboard if I read the news Old Monkey Head had got the job
Suffolk_fox Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 I think if Paul Jewel was interested in getting back into football, he would be at work by now and it wouldn't be for us. The only way anyone of quality is going to work for MM is by paying him by the truck load and I can't see him doing that. The other front runners are likely lads and have been out of work for a season or two.........very depressing isn't it? I can see no logic in this post at all. "I think if Paul Jewel was interested in getting back into football, he would be at work by now..." Not necessarily. He'd obviously want to join the right team. "....and it wouldn't be for us." Why not? We are much bigger than Wigan, where the main interest is Rugby League. "The only way anyone of quality is going to work for MM is by paying him by the truck load and I can't see him doing that." Milan certainly has the money, and if it is going to take a truck load to get someone in, he will spend it. (But not a penny more you understand!) I was very angry with Milan (still am) for getting rid of MA, but he has a lot more to lose than me in this, so I am sure he has good reason!
Kent Fox Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 I don't think anyone has mentioned Steve Walsh. Did he ever do his coaching badges At least he has the 'spirit' we need if he can be tempted back. So far, for me, it has to be Jewell. I know nothing about Brendan Rogers so I can't count him in yet. Billy Davies is having a tough time at Derby - he might be ok if / when he loses his job there. Not Reid. Not Warnock. In fact, no real old farts please Milan. And no ex-managers. Let's have someone in with Mad Dog's attitude but with more experience. (Jewell??)

Don't get me wrong - I would love to see Walshie here, but only after he has had some experience elsewhere and shown what he can do. So he is out for me at the moment. Billy Davies? Maybe, but he is really suffering at the moment coming to terms with Premiership football. So maybe not. If Warnock hadn't had such a bad history with City, I would welcome him with open arms, but it isn't to be. Monkey head? No way Jose! I think Paul Jewell or Glenn Roeder would be good - I felt sorry for Roeder last season, he didn't really fail. I think he could take us to where we want to be.

Maybe if Thracs dream comes true and Milan sods off and we get relegated into D1, then Walshy would be the ideal man to try and bring us up with his transfer kitty of £100k and a load of academy players! Until then, despite him being one of my favourite players, I wouldn't want him anywhere near the first team managers duties, not until he serves his apprenticeship like Simon Grayson is doing.

It's an opinion not logical fact........that's how I feel and I respect yours or anyone elses option to disagree. I wrote that after thinking long and hard about who would come to Leicester and I feel that with MM in control mode, we are going to be hard pressed to get a free thinking manager. Jewel has choices and I don't believe Leicester will be one of them. If he comes I will be delighted as well as being proved wrong.
Daggers Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 I will be absolutely devastated if it's Peter Reid. That was my initial feeling - but he did alright for Man City, more than alright for Sunderland and did as good as anyone could have done at the time for Leeds. His start at Cov was a disaster... Whoever gets appointed will meet with my extreme ambivalence until they've proved themselves (unless it's Keegan, at which point I will go hysterical), I simply do not care who gets the job. Plus, seeing as they probably only have until Xmas to make a good impression before being replaced by the next one I don't plan on investing any emotional energy into them either.
Kent Fox Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 I want Paul Jewell, not Peter Reid, Tra-la, la-la, la I want Paul Jewell, not Peter Reid, Tra-la, la-la, la, la,la, la. I want Paul Jewell, not Peter Reid, Tra-la, la-la, la Coz he's got a feckin' Monkey Head. Head, Head. Show Reid a motion Tra-la, la-la,la etc etc Woo-Hoo! 1000 up (most of 'em rubbish)
Lillehamring Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Gotta be Paul Jewel i know you're new, but... i think you win the prize for the least original forum name... ever.
Milky Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 I just spotted Peter Reid at the England, India game. He looked really happy

Why don't you say I dream of working as a traffic warden too? What do you do? Take random words I've written and draw them out of a dice pot to form the first phrase or saying that suits your sense of humour. Wherever you work I damned sure you're wasted. Because you'd either be a gem at political discrediting or as the England cricket team's new spin wizard.

Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 I just spotted Peter Reid at the England, India game. He looked really happy Don't worry, this can be dismissed as completely false. I mean, have you ever seen Peter Reid happy? Well then!
