christ, this whole, 'who would want to come and work for milan' crap is really doing my head in.

...compared to certain european countries, england is pretty docile, but there are plenty of chairman that will wield the axe without hesitation... milan is offering managers the chance to take a team to the prem, his last manager had a brand new team.

so , it s a high profile job, many managers thrive on that, look at warnock, they love being in the public glare.

MAs tenure was short lived cause he fu(ked up, you don't start a new job by telling your boss how to run things. but i bet he's made a few quid, and had his profile raised, no doubt he'll be managing at this level soon, he's got himself on this list of names that comes up everytime there's a vacancy, guaranteed

chairmen have been like MM for years, why is doug ellis nicknamed: 'deadly'...

managers will be queueing up for this job, MA knew what MM was like, but he quit a good job to come here...

STOP THIS MADNESS NOW!!!!

Agreed. This is nothing like the current situation north of the border where Vladamir Romanov has pissed all over Hearts. Romanov has bought so many Lithuainians just reading the Hearts team sheet gives me a headache. He is a control freak who needs everything his own way.

I think that the Allen sacking hurts more because of the pure timing in what has been the strangest of weeks. Anyone that says Milan is some mogul after a quick buck is talking out of their arse. I think he proved his devotion in his speech today, and with his willingness to talk to the press. He knows that his descision is not going to please many fans, but it obviously needed to be done. Fact is, though I liked Allen, there were better candidates available in May when the appointment was made.

Most people are getting on his back, but he knows more about hiring and firing managers and what's best for a football club that has struggled in this division.

Not even September and already our saviour is the victim of "Mandaric Out" thread titles.

Milan is an interfering busybody, which is why we have a such a huge squad - those MA wanted and those MM wanted. I suggest that those who are speaking out in favour of Milan should read the "Martin Allen Sacked" thread and see the comment that allegedly comes from the horse's mouth. It may be just gossip, but you only need to look at what happened at Portsmouth to sniff a whiff of truth.

I had grave reservations when I heard the news of Milan buying the club because of what he did with Redknapp. YES, look where they are now... but where might they be if he'd stood by him in the first place!!

Yeah coz the alternative of League One and Administration under the previous board was so appealing!:frusty:

The anti Milan stuff angers me.

Just look at what we had this time last year. Rob kelly, no money, no chance of any newplayers even coming on loan as we couldn't afford it.

A team which had josh low in it.

Now we may not have a manager, but we still have the hope that we can do well. Money to bring players in. And a side that has The likes Of Clememce and n'gotty in it.

I know its a shock, and i liked allen, but Milan would not have taken this decision lighlty and there is more to this that we know, i have read a few things where Allen was upsetting alot of people not just milan.

People Should have expected this when milan took over the club, it took him 2 or 3 goes until he got the right manager at portsmouth, hopefully it'll be 3rd time lucky with us. (thats including worthy)

Managers always upset people - especially winners like Ferguson and Mourinho who upset a lot of people.

I take your point. But it has to be done in the right way.

But rumour has it he even wanted to change the youth set up, which would be crazy as the club on last years performance.

whoever was responsible for the signing of the players, i don't care, fact is we have a squad capable of stuffing a good watford team - with the players we have i wouldn't even put it past rudkin to get us up! likewise, i think Allen would have got us to the playoffs, Milan felt something was wrong with Allen and wanted to 'hedge' (is that right?) his bets, and made a business decision.

the fact remains, LCFC is an appealing prospect now - and if as in the 'fat cats' post, MA did only buy '4 players', then Milan must be doing something right, cause we have a decent looking squad (certainly compared to pre MM/MA days) and senior level depth...

anyhoo, this is a new manager thread, stick to the topic...

Everyone is entitled to a fetish although like you there are some I'd sooner not know about.

Martin Allen's gone that can't be altered, not unless he does a Harry.

What I find worrying is that it demonstrates very clearly that MM hasn't got the ability to judge people, he's employed so many managers, after, in his own words an exhaustive search and yet continues to fail.

He is a successful business man but he either cannot spot a good football manager or cannot work with bad or good ones. I've simply no confidence that the next one or the next one or the next one........... will be the right one.

MM on the appointment of MA

"During the last couple of months I have been in front of numerous people who believed they had the right attributes to take this club forward.

"My criteria was simple. I needed someone with hunger, drive, commitment and potential to aspire to all our dreams and aspirations. And I believe Martin ticked all the required boxes. His undoubted ability is matched only by his infectious enthusiasm which will inspire the club.

"He was unquestionably the outstanding candidate to come before me and deserves the immense opportunity that awaits him.

No disrespect to the religious amongst this forum but the next Manager will have to have God like credentials to even get an interview and even then I suspect MM's ego to do battle with his business persona.

A national on-line bookies suspended betting on the next Leicester City manager yesterday after a rush of bets on Chelsea reserve-team coach Brendan Rodgers.

Bet365, who yesterday installed former Wigan boss Paul Jewell as the 5-2 favourite to succeed Martin Allen, halted betting after what spokesman Steve Freeth described as “a lop-sided bookâ€.

“Apart from Brendan Rodgers, we've hardly laid (money) on anyone else,†said Freeth.

“He was mentioned in some of the Sunday newspapers as a possible, and whether people have latched on to that, or whether some people know more than we do, I don't know.

“But we went from 13-2 on Rodgers to 5-1, then to 3-1, and finally 6-4 before we decided to pull the plug for the time being.

“There's talk that Milan Mandaric wants to appoint fairly quickly, and we're not prepared to take the risk at the moment, but we may go back up later.â€

Rodgers, 34, was appointed Chelsea's reserve-team coach a year ago after two years as their youth-team coach. Before that, he was director of Reading's youth academy.

Also among bet365s short-priced contenders to be Mandaric's fourth manager in seven months were ex-Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock (4-1), former West Brom boss Gary Megson (13-2), and ex-West Ham and Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder (8-1).

At 10-1 was ex-City favourite Simon Grayson, whose Blackpool side beat City on the opening day of the season, and former Coventry boss Peter Reid.

Others included Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood (14-1), MK Dons manager Paul Ince (16-1) and Bristol City's Gary Johnson (20-1).

Bet365 were also quoting Harry Redknapp, whom Mandaric twice had as his manager at Portsmouth, at 50-1, alongside former Walsall boss Paul Merson, the ex-England and Arsenal star.

Local bookmaker Mark Jarvis have Jewell at 3-1 and Warnock 7-2, but Megson 4-1 is moving up fast on the rails.

Spokesman Scott Upton said: “We have had a lot of money on Megson. One of our area managers says it's not a question of if but when.â€

Rodgers is 6-1 with Jarvis, Glenn Roeder 8-1, Grayson 10-1 and Calderwoood at 12-1.

Upton said: “Milan has put his money where his mouth is, and he's got more to lose than the fans.

“He is obviously doing what he thinks is in the best interests of the club.â€

Now to contradict the bookies...

Leicester City's new manager will be more experienced and from a higher level than Martin Allen.

That is the view of City chairman Milan Mandaric as he admitted his gamble on the former MK Dons and Brentford manager did not pay off as he expected.

Allen was backed to the tune of 14 new players and a large support team, but Mandaric did not feel things were going as he had hoped when he appointed him.

The City chairman said: “Yes, it was a gamble but, if you can make it, then it works. Martin O'Neill and Alex Ferguson came from small clubs.

“But, this time, I will be looking for someone who has experience at a higher level.â€

The speculation circus starts again and many of the “usual suspects†from before will no doubt feature.

Former Wigan boss Paul Jewell was installed as the bookies' favourite when betting opened yesterday, with ex-Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock and former West Brom chief Gary Megson among the short-priced contenders.

All three would meet Mandaric's criteria of being more experienced and from a higher level than Allen, as would other names mentioned in speculation like ex-West Ham and Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder.

One national on-line bookmaker suspended betting on the next City manager yesterday after a rush of money on Chelsea reserve-team coach Brendan Rodgers - though he would hardly seem to fit the bill.

Mandaric said: “There will be some from before and some new ones. It is an advantage to have two weeks free because we have time to look at things and really work at it because afterwards we will have a lot of games.

“In the meantime, I am lucky to have those three professionals who are good Leicester City club people - Jon Rudkin, Steve Beaglehole and Mike Stowell - and the others who are rolling up their sleeves.

“That gives me the break to go out and find a new manager, the right manager.â€

After all the drama of the week, starting with defender Clive Clarke's collapse at Forest followed by the surprise departure of Allen, the hardest task is to keep the players focused.

Rudkin said: “The week has been a strange one with all that's happened.

“Obviously, we are disappointed with the news of the manager, but it is important we all look forward to Plymouth and keep the focus on getting something down there.

“We have got some excellent professionals and they have shown that.

“The incident with Clive Clarke was very upsetting but the players have talked about it among themselves, talked to the player and now they are concentrating on the game at hand.â€

Rudkin has a virtually complete squad to pick from and watched as strikers Matty Fryatt, with a hat-trick, and Carl Cort, back from injury, found the net in the Reserves' 5-1 win at Wolves on Wednesday night.
