Mickey O'Neil Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Just been announced. Nice one big fella.
Geo V Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Just been announced. Nice one big fella. At centre-half?
Joe. Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 :w00t: I'm really pleased for him. I still rate Heskey.
Bryn Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/i...als/6974969.stm Get the fook in there Heskey lad. fook playing Joe Cole up front against Israel, get Heskey in there, his work ethic and aerial ability is the perfect foil for Owen.
Unit Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Well done Heskey, love it Hope one day before too long he can come back and score some more goals for city
dandannieldanok Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Good decision, he is desperately needed because are attacking options for Israel are looking very one dimensional, Johnson, Owen, Bent and Defoe (Crouch Suspended) are all good players but much too similar.
Stevosevic Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Well done big man, hopefully see you play again when i go to Wembley Saturday.
lookwhaticando Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 In the squad or not... a clueless twat like Steve MC will doubtless get his selection wrong. He'll either pick someone else (Defoe, as he's the crappiest right now) or he'll pick Heskey and fail to organize the team properly, making no use of Heskey at all (Heskey for left wing, anyone?) I envisage a rather shit forward line featuring Defoe.

I think you're right. It's quite clear to me Heskey needs to start, up front, with Owen. Those two work nicely together and aren't both two small strikers like Owen and Defoe would be. But it is McLaren, and it's sure to be Owen and Defoe.
Bryn Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 It says on BBC that he intends to play Joe Cole up front with Owen, even fooking worse.
Milky Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Brilliant! He deserves it. Crouch is suspended, Defoe isn't playing, Johnson is over-rated and he hasn't scored this season anyway.
lookwhaticando Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 McClaren was keen to bring in some muscle up front after watching Owen impress when partnered with Mark Viduka and Shola Ameobi for Newcastle. Based on that logic... Heskey is the only choice. So... look out for an Owen/Defoe or Owen/Bent starting strike pair with Heskey appearing with 10 minutes to go... in place of Owen. That's the McClaren way... bring people into the squad to give you 'options' and then don't use them. :pinch:
Joe. Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 It says on BBC that he intends to play Joe Cole up front with Owen, even fooking worse. Well this is just great Well done Steve, brilliant
Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Result! Best news of the week indeed. He's been playing great for Wigan and will hold the ball up great for Owen to score. That's of course assuming that the red-faced wincer actually plays Owen in the first place.

Tommeh Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Great news, the big mans still got a lot to offer. Hope Mclaren has the sense to start up front up with owen, any striking partnership that stuffs the germans 5-1 in munich deserves another shot.
Cheese Me Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Brilliant news. Would love to see him back here if we can get promoted (and I do think he'd come). One of the very few good decisions Mclaren has made
