Not sure about a good meal but you have to eat before drinking (and I'd suggest something small like bread just before bed) just to soak up the alcohol a bit.

To make matters worse, my Dad fainted today on the stairs and fell backwards from about the 10th step.

 

Currently in the Royal.

I quite like Billy Bragg.

 

I've liked a lot of his stuff. His early material is very good, the Mermaid Avenue Woody Guthrie material is a seriously major historical contribution to music - and the modern folk collaborations he's been involved in were also excellent.

 

I also am enough of a politics nerd that I share his passionate belief that electoral reform is vitally important and that the right sort of proportional representation could transform British politics.

 

My negativity results from the last 2 times I've seen him, when he's spouted guff on the theme of "why you should be a lefty" at interminable length. When he played Summer Sundae (?) a couple of years back, my mate and me split his set between us, so that each of us spent the other half of it on childcare duties. I saw half an hour of Billy Bragg, during which he played precisely two songs! The rest of the set was him informing the audience why they should be lefties. Superfluous and self indulgent. I'm already a convinced lefty, as are most of his audience. The odd aside, inbetween a proper music set, would be ample!

Hope your Dad makes a good and quick recovery.

 

My Dad managed to do the same thing a couple of years back at age 87. He smashed his head on a cabinet at the bottom and ended up with 13 stitches in his head. Recovered well, thankfully - they make skulls thick in the west of Ireland.

 

Look forward to enjoying the good times even more than you would have done otherwise. :thumbup:

Went out last night. I'm feeling it now, and just been sick. Every time we invite this one guy out he buys everyone drinks all the time, doesn't sound too bad does it, until the following morning.

You need to see him to understand but most likely some would dismiss him just because he is not a Cameron supporter.
