Where did you go pinting?

It was that hot didn’t really get round as many interesting places as we usually would for pints, Did have an Italian at Kias which was probably amongst the best Italian food I’ve had outside of Italy

After yesterdays game we had my wifes family and some others over.  Bbq'd chicken, burgers, vege kebabs, bro inlaw made fried rice, MIL brought some pasta and desserts. Stella's nice and cold.. The kids were running around having fun with their cousins.  Adults were chatting, playing cards, music in the background.

Havent had that in awhile because of covid but felt good to have everyone around. We have seen eachother during the last 2 years but just on a smaller scale.

Made me forget about our current footy madness. Now i am tired as feck and want to lay on the sofa all day lol.

i was in Oxford for the weekend for a wedding and it shocked me how much the Oxford high street has declined.

This is a city with incredible wealth (and massive homelessness etc) and to see the impact of covid and austerity was frightening.

We've been going back and forth to oxford for the last 17 years and the change is grim.

I've not been to Oxford since 2005 so I'm not in any position to comment but I was in Bradford last week and I'm having a hard time imagining our definitions of 'grim' being the same.

massive amount of shops vacant, loads of pubs closed and homelessness and drug abuse through the roof?

To me most urban centres seem a lot shabbier and downright dirtier than a few years ago. I've started to notice it with my street in London in the last year; it was never the most picturesque (though quite pleasant) but now there's litter everywhere.

I just don't think I'd ever seen anything quite like it to be honest. I don't normally consider myself sheltered but maybe I am. I can't remember ever seeing anywhere so shabby and run down and so desperately in need of investment. Broken windows theory sprung to mind, as soon as we left Leeds and started driving towards Bradford, everything from homes to commercial properties just started getting progressively shabbier. Everywhere you looked, things were in desperate need of everything from a coat of paint to major renovation and the whole place just felt grubby and bleak.

There's a thread on here, "is the city of Leicester a shithole" and honestly, I just felt myself thinking about that and laughing really. I think there's a lot of posters on here that have probably barely ever left Leicester. By comparison this place is paradise. Made me realise how much of a genuinely green city Leicester is, trees, parks, green spaces absolutely everywhere even all round our estates.

As a matter of interest, if you don't mind me asking, in what part of London do you live?

It's not just the city itself but the people.

Mrs. FFF decided to meet a friend in town yesterday. First mistake.

She has not been there for many months and decided to bus into the centre. Second mistake.

At the bus stop near our home, a young girl downloaded her recent life story which included being a victim of domestic assault, drugs and partner in prison.

On the journey itself, a old boy explained to her he was on his way to see the council about anti social behaviour on his street.

Before she met her friend she received a call from her explaining she had been asked for some money and when she refused the guy started swearing at her. She was concerned enough to seek refuge in a cafe!

Mrs. FFF does not plan any further trips into Leicester for the foreseeable .

Bit harsh imo. Town has come on leaps and bounds since I was a teenager when it was soarpoint - highcross - mosh/fan club - avoid the sick and fights - home. Loads of good new places around and better behaviour. Had some fantastic pints at the kings head after the match on Saturday and a good meal at Herb

The first one, the young girl. Maybe you Mrs was the first person she saw who looked liked she'd listen. Domestic abuse occurs in every corner of the country, in fact the world and is not any indication of the state of the city. There are also drug users and criminals in every city. That young girl needed an ear, and possibly help, not scoffing at and dismissing.

The man on the bus, whilst I agree anti social behaviour isn't a good thing, there was most likely someone doing something very similar in every major city in the UK today. Anti social behavior isn't exclusive to Leicester.

The final one, homeless people. Well firstly, welcome to tory Britain. I go to Leicester semi regularly, I live in loughborough and go to the town most weekends, and I've been to numerous other cities. I rarely carry cash. I never give homeless people cash because of this. I apologise and I'm polite and I have never once been met with any kind of anger or threatening behaviour. Either your Mrs mate was over reacting or she was rude when asked would be my guess.

No homeless person was mentioned.

And I don't see the link with someone being aggressive and "Tory Britain".

I see a link to more and more people begging for money being linked to Tory Britain.

I also said I've never been met with aggressive behaviour, which you conveniently ignored. So I wasn't linking aggressive behaviour to tory Britain, I was suggesting her mate was possibly rude to the begger.

I didn't ignore, I just didn't find it relevant. I too politely decline requests from "homeless" beggars and never had a problem. Only once have I had aggressive behaviour aimed towards me when asked for money and this person wasn't homeless, just a ****.

In this case lets not jump to conclusions and assume the victim or the Tories are at fault. Sometimes nobheads are nobheads.

Do feel like you moving away from the main point, possibly to defend this terrible government, I don't know, but people asking for cash isn't exclusive to Leicester. Neither are aggressive people, and as we've both experienced are extremely rare occurrences.

The facts are. You first mentioned this government thus moving away from the OP initial complaint that someone was being aggressive. I feel you are choosing to victim/government blame without any real justification except your own personal bias.

Just my opinion you'll find more people begging for money in a country run by the tories, I'm allowed to make that point, I wasn't moving away from the point, because the point was its not exclusive to Leicester. And neither are aggressive people. You took umbrage to the Tory comment, as it clearly touched a nerve.

Anyway we've massively moved away from the point that all those things listed, domestic violence, anti social behaviour and beggers are not Leicester exclusive situations. Apparently mentioning why that might be and audacity to suggest it might be the government isn't allowed. But we'll leave it there shall we, I'm not getting myself banned again for arguing with Tory sympathisers.

Just to be clear I have no affiliation to this government. I personally think they are an absolute shambles, but that is by the by.

I was only making the point that some people are nobheads (in all towns) and that fact isn't linked to the governing party no matter who. There were these issues during the last Labour government too. IMO A stronger deterrent would cut many anti-social issues.

Again, I never said there were more aggressive people when we have a tory government, just more skint people, so more people begging.

Going for a new job and heard back this morning following a telephone interview that I am through to the ‘next round’ which is an actual in person interview

Slightly less pay but comes with a company vehicle (so no more £70 a week on fuel) and I get to be out on the road rather that sat at a desk all day

Got a bit of burn out with my current job so just need something new

Nice one mate well done, fuel is killing me at the minute  👍
