Asha Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 only time will tell. Yeah the same was said about O'Grady and Tommy Wright (now at Darlo). Didnt quite happen though did it?
ASH17LCFC Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Yeah the same was said about O'Grady and Tommy Wright (now at Darlo). Didnt quite happen though did it? You're forgetting Jon stevenson !!! Why does everyone forgot him ? He was gonna be the next big thing ...... and he is at hinckley utd.
City Fan Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 You're forgetting Jon stevenson !!! Why does everyone forgot him ? He was gonna be the next big thing ...... and he is at hinckley utd. He's now at Boston.........Hinckley got rid because of an attitude problem.
Geo V Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 Billy kee is a god how many goals has he scored, i used to go schoool with him and hes a menace to play against one hell of a shot its unreal. Ian Baraclough was another wasn't he?! Kee is doing well but I`ll point you towards my knee-jerk reactions thread Lets give the lad time to show what he can do and develop his skills before we throw him into the deep end.
Thracian Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 Yeah the same was said about O'Grady and Tommy Wright (now at Darlo). Didnt quite happen though did it? O'Grady's scored 7 in 22 for Rotherham and it doesn't surprise me one bit so get off his back. He was never given much of a chance as a striker here - simply asked by Contain-em Kelly to do a particular job. He was never going to oust Kelly's Chosen Men and was made a scapegoat really. I've not seen enough of Billy Kee to judge but I do know that there's always someone ready to be negative of any prospective Academy graduate. Yet Stearman, Wesolowski, Logan, Porter, Sheehan, Mattock, King and Odhiambo - eight players - have all made first team appearances and none has really let us down. Gradel and Dodds might easily have joined them. That is some record and some achievement whatever the cold water pourers might say. Kee will have his doubters whatever - and he's not ready yet. But he must be half decent to even get in our Academy team these days, never mind the reserves on occasions, and it will be interesting to see who hits the harder shot out of him and Sappleton.

Big Ricky's shots would break a man.

If you organized a poll today on who would be our favoured first 11 from the players we have here and out on loan, I`d very much doubt that the likes of Levi, Dodds, Logan, King and Odhiambo would feature. Many would also think that Weso and Clem would be the first team central-midfield players thus pushing King down the pecking order and some may even say they would prefer Chambers to Stearman at RB. I dont think you listing ten players who have featured in this first team via the academy actually says anything because its not like they have made such a significant mark whereby the majority would command a start.
Bert Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 The thing with Kee and Sappleton is, Sappleton has a massive attitude problem whereas i'm led to believe that Kee doesn't. Let's the this promising lad develop first.
Steven Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 How many has Kee scored this season now? 13 I know about.
The Stig Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 Billy kee is a god how many goals has he scored, i used to go schoool with him and hes a menace to play against one hell of a shot its unreal. Reserves >> Championship. A HUGE step up, someone can be excellent at youth level, but average when they move up. Don't move him up too early, otherwise he will turn into the new Chris O Grady. I don't think any of us fans know if he's ready yet, only Kee himself, Gary Megson and Jon Rudkin really know if he's ready yet. Oh and welcome to the form, I'm pretty sure you're the Alex Smith I think you are! :
Staf Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 Put him on the bench thats about it i wouldnt start him
Harpenden Fox Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 Why so many negative posts about the fact we have a good youth policy? It is the only way forward for a Club like ours. Not all of them will make it, but I'd much rather promote home grown than look to the likes of Hellings, Neilsen, Hignett, Horsfield, Jarrett, Blake, Makin, Curtis, Douglas (add to that little lot as you see fit) to take us forward.
Tevez Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 The lad is only 16 bloody hell, let him adapt first.
Mark Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 I'm all for promoting youth but he's not a regular in the Reserves yet!
Daggers Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 The lad is only 16 bloody hell, let him adapt first. Exactly, he'd never fit in with the drinking culture at that age
dpjfox Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 when can we sign hm on a proffessional contact to stop bigger clubs signing him?
Tommy G Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 Billy kee is a god how many goals has he scored, i used to go schoool with him and hes a menace to play against one hell of a shot its unreal. We should throw him into the first team when you pick up basic grammar and punctuation skills.

I've just listed Clemence, King, Wesolowski as my preferred midfield so that knackers your argument for a start. I've no idea whether Stearman or Chambers is the best right wing back. They're both good and can play half each if the manager can't decide. The same with Mattock/Sheehan, Gradel/Newton and Porter/Hayes, Dodds/any other of our strikers. I don't mind. They are all improving players who will have good times and bad but collectively they make our squad far stronger than it ever was last season.
Jimmy Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 when can we sign hm on a proffessional contact to stop bigger clubs signing him? on his 17th birthday
alexsmith350 Posted 10 October 2007 Author Posted 10 October 2007 i never said that we should place him instantly into the first team, but just keep an eye on him because he could turn out to be a good investment. If he can score goals as well as creating them (not now in a few years maybe) then thats not a bad situation is it?
