David O'Leary Posted 28 October 2007 Posted 28 October 2007 Please help me with my coursework cheers.. Should we use it more when stating your answer please give a reason why you chose that. This isn't just for football, but any sport I need the fan's opinions, all help is gratefully recieved
Asha Posted 28 October 2007 Posted 28 October 2007 Sometimes. Not all the time because it will disrupt the flow of the game. Only use on goalline decisions.
Suffolk_fox Posted 28 October 2007 Posted 28 October 2007 Sometimes. Goal line technology Video ref for Offside 'Goals', and Penalty Appeals
David O'Leary Posted 28 October 2007 Author Posted 28 October 2007 No A reason would be greatly appreciated
davieG Posted 28 October 2007 Posted 28 October 2007 Most argument against it is the time it will take to make a decision which seems a tad absurd when you consider how long it takes referees to organise a direct free kick some are taking more than a minute these days only for the ball to be skied over the cross bar.

And so what if a match finished 5 minutes later?
davieG Posted 28 October 2007 Posted 28 October 2007 And so what if a match finished 5 minutes later? They generally do anyway!
Joe. Posted 28 October 2007 Posted 28 October 2007 Sometimes. Basically for key decisions- goal line technology, penalty decisions, offside decisions.
Ashley Posted 28 October 2007 Posted 28 October 2007 Sometimes.Basically for key decisions- goal line technology, penalty decisions, offside decisions. Seconded.
Nod.E Posted 30 October 2007 Posted 30 October 2007 Sometimes. Although i would like every decision to be correct, sometimes a bit of drama is all good. A talking point. Plus it might slow the game down. But other than that i am for technology in some instances.
Raj Posted 30 October 2007 Posted 30 October 2007 YES!. I would install a laser guided missile in each corner. If a player is really crap id have them 'lasered'
Dr The Singh Posted 30 October 2007 Posted 30 October 2007 YES, any decisions in the box and goal line should be judged by a fourth official!! The ref will allow play to continue untill a decision is made, which only takes a few seconds these days, and will be in favour of the attacking side!!
Manwell Pablo Posted 30 October 2007 Posted 30 October 2007 I'd stick a camera on the goal line and leave it at that, can't be bothred with analyzing penalties and offside descions. Half the time the pundits on the highlight shows end up determining that the incident is "50/50, you win some you lose some"
The People's Hero Posted 30 October 2007 Posted 30 October 2007 I'd stick a camera on the goal line and leave it at that, can't be bothred with analyzing penalties and offside descions. Half the time the pundits on the highlight shows end up determining that the incident is "50/50, you win some you lose some" Wouldn't even bother with that. Officiating mistakes are actually part and parcel of the game I love.

Yes but it annoys me when the ball has cleary crossed over the goal line by 3 yards, and a goal hasn't been given. It's easy enough to sort wont be hard to implement and wont hold the game up too much.
Vacamion Posted 30 October 2007 Posted 30 October 2007 Other sports offer the opportunity to challenge the officials on the pitch, with referral up to a video official. If you let footy teams do that, the game really would be held up. No, I think that goal line technology has quite broad support, but any other innovations will be perceived as delaying the game and undermining the officials on the pitch.
Raikkonen Posted 30 October 2007 Posted 30 October 2007 top division clubs shoud use goaline technolgy sp it would stop big devates on the matter
Jack Posted 30 October 2007 Posted 30 October 2007 I would only have Goal-line technology, I think any other form of technology would slow the game and could possibly even ruin it.
Webbo Posted 30 October 2007 Posted 30 October 2007 No! Sometimes.Goal line technology Video ref for Offside 'Goals', and Penalty Appeals Can't see how it could work, ref might blow for a penalty or offside, we'd sit waiting for 2/3 minutes for a decision only to find that it wasn't an offside/penalty. How would you restart the game?
filbertway Posted 30 October 2007 Posted 30 October 2007 No!Can't see how it could work, ref might blow for a penalty or offside, we'd sit waiting for 2/3 minutes for a decision only to find that it wasn't an offside/penalty. How would you restart the game? Exaggeration (sp) or what . It'd take about 10-15 seconds to decide. Although saying that I would only have goal line technology as if you score a goal and it's over the line you deserve that goal. Leave the rest how it is I would, as mistakes always seem to even themselves out over the course of a season anyway, as someone said above, it adds to the drama and gives talking points. Plus it'd make the refs job too easy
lcfc_jme Posted 1 November 2007 Posted 1 November 2007 I'm giving my opinion solely based on football and I've voted never simply because I like the debates and controversy that surround crucial decisions in games. Football has grown up like that and it gives pundits, commentators, managers, players and fans things to discuss during the week. It's brilliant. If we wish to be more like egg-chashing, then bring technology in. Whilst we're at it, get the groundshare with the Tigers back on.
Simi Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 I really wouldn't want the controversy being taken out of the game more. Regardless of money issues and all that, it makes for great debates etc. We need to keep things that make football what it is. A lot of the heart has been ripped out of football already. Imagine all these replays we'd be watching. Imagine how Americanised they'd be? Do people really want all that shit in the game more?
