Ian Holloway was suspended (sent on gardening leave) as manager by Queens Park Rangers on 6 February 2006. The reason given by the Q.P.R board was that the constant rumours linking Holloway to the vacant managerial position at Leicester City were causing too many problems for the club.[1] As it turned out, the Leicester job went to Rob Kelly, and QPR went on to finish 21st, just one place above the relegation positions.

Holloway isn't a thug. He's a decent family man, who's performed well at Plymouth, with a real inner determination to work hard and succeed. The bloke has a backbone.

LEICESTER City owner Milan Mandaric has denied he is set to appoint Plymouth Argyle manager Ian Holloway as the new boss of his Championship club.

There was a swirl of speculation this afternoon that 44-year-old Holloway was close to being appointed by Leicester.

Argyle chairman Paul Stapleton has also told Herald Sport that the speculation is incorrect.

Mandaric said: "There is no truth in the rumour. I haven't contacted Plymouth and he hasn't been in my thoughts about getting the job."

Mandaric returned from a trip to California, United States this afternoon.

Leicester are seeking a successor to Gary Megson, who quit to take over at Bolton Wanderers last month, and Holloway has been linked with the vacancy over the past fortnight.

Stapleton said: "There is no truth it. I spoke to Ian at lunchtime today about loan transfers and contract talks for other players."

Just been on Radio 1 that he's supposed to be our new manager :S:dunno:

They've been saying that for the past hour... and in the last 20 minutes the chairmen of Plymouth and Leicester have both come out and said it's not going on.

Current managerial outlook: overcast, few sunny breaks, potential for fog tonight.

Someone is playing silly buggers with the BBC. Not MM, no-one at Plymouth's end if they're now denying it - so who?

I don't think the BBC will run with a story without having a credible source. My ****er isn't answering the phone. If he's hiding i'll be very angry :@

He was credible enough with the Megson story, so I would presume he would be credible again.

Remember to take that back to the word library when you've finished with it - I've had it on order for the last two months now.

This one actually isn't on loan.

I picked it up for a song in the local charity shop. It's a 1984 original too - sweet.

*by the way, the song in question was Lady in Red by Chris de Burghhhhhh-urggghhhhh.

yeh they always say its not the person its rumoured to be then BAM. 2 days later he's here probably trying to keep it hushed until formalities are done.

I'll be pleased ith Holloway we could have done better we couldve done alot worse but at the end of the day hes well respected in Football and has done well at the clubs hes been in charge at. Lee Martin (young Man U winger) joined Plymouth because Alex Ferguson said He'd learn alot from Ollie.
