BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBREAKING NEWS: MANDARIC AND STAPLETON DENY OLLIE IS TO JOIN LEICESTER

LEICESTER City owner Milan Mandaric has denied he is set to appoint Plymouth Argyle manager Ian Holloway as the new boss of his Championship club.

There was a swirl of speculation this afternoon that 44-year-old Holloway was close to being appointed by Leicester.

Argyle chairman Paul Stapleton has also told Herald Sport that the speculation is incorrect.

Mandaric said: "There is no truth in the rumour. I haven't contacted Plymouth and he hasn't been in my thoughts about getting the job."

Mandaric returned from a trip to California, United States this afternoon.

Leicester are seeking a successor to Gary Megson, who quit to take over at Bolton Wanderers last month, and Holloway has been linked with the vacancy over the past fortnight.

Stapleton said: "There is no truth it. I spoke to Ian at lunchtime today about loan transfers and contract talks for other players."

From Teamtalk.... I'll delete this if someone has beaten me to it!:

Ian Holloway is not about to leave Plymouth Argyle to become the new Leicester manager, according to Foxes owner Milan Mandaric.

Speculation on Monday suggested Mandaric had made an attractive offer to Holloway, who has guided the Pilgrims to seventh spot in the Championship this season.

Mandaric is looking for his third manager of the campaign, having parted company with Martin Allen before seeing his replacement Gary Megson take the Bolton job instead.

The Serbian business tycoon has arrived back in the UK from a trip to California in a bid to have a new boss in place at the Walkers Stadium before Saturday's trip to Bristol City.

But he has denied any approach to Argyle over Holloway, having been quoted in the Plymouth Evening Herald as saying: "There is no truth in the rumour. I haven't contacted Plymouth and he hasn't been in my thoughts about getting the job."

Home Park chairman Paul Stapleton added: "There is no truth it. I spoke to Ian at lunchtime today about loan transfers and contract talks for other players."

Ollie always came across to me as a loyal man with dignity so I was a tad bit surprised to hear that he was on the brink of joining us.

Someone should tell the beeb.

Just posted in the "Moan In" thread but i'll post it in here aswell - Radio Leicester have just reported Ian Holloway is expected to take over at Leicester in the next 48 hours.

On the site that DavieG posted earlier, one of the comments was something along the lines of

"IF Ollie does go it will be because Leicester regularly get 20,000+ crowds even though they are near the bottom of the league. Would you rather manage a team with good players but no crowds or a team with the potential to be good and good crowds? If Ollie is asked, he'll go"

Another said that if he goes it will be because we have the best stadium and facilities in the League with a rich chairman
