shrood Posted 19 November 2007 Posted 19 November 2007 IF this is true then it's a good appointment. I think a few people here have had their expectations raised too high by talk of Tigana. For me it was always unlikely that he would want to come here, but it's produced another heavy bout of 'leicester is a premiership club that automatically deserves a premiership manager itis.' For a team languishing near the bottom of the championship, Holloway is probably one of the best we can hope to attract. C'mon it could be much much worse - Reid, Cotteril etc etc
The People's Hero Posted 19 November 2007 Posted 19 November 2007 We could end up with Davies, Cotterill, Holloway, Reid or Tigana in my humble opinion. Apart from Reid, I don't think any would be a disaster.
Mark Posted 19 November 2007 Posted 19 November 2007 I was totally against this 8 months ago, yet I find myself not sure what to make of it all now. He just seems a very average football manager but with character, I suppose he's not had much funds available before though
thybluefox Posted 19 November 2007 Posted 19 November 2007 Just heard it on Radio 1, looks like its him, I'm not sure whether to be happy or annoyed!!
Tabou Posted 19 November 2007 Posted 19 November 2007 Ok well I've been doing some research and have found the following.... 1) "I'm as chuffed as a badger at the beginning of the mating season." 2) "To put it in gentleman's terms if you've been out for a night and you're looking for a young lady and you pull one, some weeks they're good looking and some weeks they're not the best. Our performance today would have been not the best looking bird but at least we got her in the taxi. She weren't the best looking lady we ended up taking home but she was very pleasant and very nice, so thanks very much, let's have a coffee" 3) "I am a football manager. I can't see into the future. Last year I thought I was going to Cornwall on my holidays but I ended up going to Lyme Regis." 4) "I always say that scoring goals is like driving a car. When the striker is going for goal, he's pushing down that accelerator, so the rest of the team has to come down off that clutch. If the clutch and the accelerator are down at the same time, then you are going to have an accident." 5) "There was a spell in the second half when I took my heart off my sleeve and put it in my mouth." 6) "It was a bit cheeky wasn't it? But I don't think it was that bad. It would have been worse if he'd turned round and dropped the front of his shorts instead. I don't think there's anything wrong with a couple of butt cheeks personally. (...) If anybody's offended by seeing a backside, get real. Maybe they're just jealous that he's got a real nice tight one, with no cellulite or anything." and my personal favourite.... "We threw everything at them. The kitchen sink, golf clubs, emptied the garage and threw it at them. Unfortunately, it was not enough, but at least my garage is tidy." THIS GUY IS A LEGEND!
General Smuts Posted 19 November 2007 Posted 19 November 2007 Apparently just been announced on radio 1 according to my source. Hes coming. God i hope this is true.
teblin Posted 19 November 2007 Posted 19 November 2007 What did it say? 5Live understands Plymouth Manager Ian Holloway will become the new Manager of Leicester City
shrood Posted 19 November 2007 Posted 19 November 2007 What did it say? 5live understands Holloway will leave Plymouth to become manager of Leicester City blahblahblah...
Raj Posted 19 November 2007 Posted 19 November 2007 I'd welcome Holloway. People might see simliarities with him and Allen but Allen never managed at the Level Holloway has.(Previous to Allen managing City that is!!!) He's done well with Plymouth with limited resources and more importantly(!) he's a funny man! (I might even put him in my signature!)
Steven Posted 19 November 2007 Posted 19 November 2007 MM has just said on RL that no appointment for 48 hours.
Phil Bert Fox Posted 19 November 2007 Posted 19 November 2007 just heard it too. Listen up everybody, I live near Plymouth these days and when there's fook all else to do on a Saturday afternoon I go and watch the mighty Greens I have watched them for 2 years (willing them to lose!), in which time they have had 3 Managers and I can say that 'Ollie' is by far the best one, his style of play is good to, not too much hoooooooof ball. He's actually got these players playing quite good football, he also has got a good eye in the transfer market. That said, I am surprised that he's contemplating coming as his Missus is from Saltash (Cornwall to those crap at geography), His kids, who are in a special school for deaf are in Exeter and He's from Bristol. And he keeps his horses down the lane from my gaf, So it would appear that he is settled. Can't relly see much off a draw to the East Mids from beutiful Devon.........except maybe £1m per year! Hope he does though as I can take the piss out of my carrot crunching feildmice mates!!
Raj Posted 19 November 2007 Posted 19 November 2007 MM has just said on RL that no appointment for 48 hours. What the fcuk does MM know???
lookwhaticando Posted 19 November 2007 Posted 19 November 2007 I'm sure you folk are hearing things. I'm now glued to Five Live and I've heard diddly squat so far.
The 72 Posted 19 November 2007 Posted 19 November 2007 This from the local Plymouth rag's website... Plymouth Argyle chairman Paul Stapleton has dismissed further rumours about manager Ian Holloway becoming the new manager of Leicester City. There was a swirl of speculation this afternoon that 44-year-old Holloway was set to take over at Leicester. But Stapleton told Herald Sport: "There is no truth in it. I spoke to Ian at lunchtime today about loan transfers and contract talks for other players." Leicester owner Milan Mandaric is returning from a trip to the United States later today. The Foxes are seeking a successor to Gary Megson, who quit to take over at Bolton Wanderers last month, and Holloway has been linked with the vacancy over the past fortnight.
