We will lose 4 or 5-0 and then all you puppets will be calling for Holloway to be sacked!

Personally I think we should bring back Martin Allen.

well we have nothing to lose and that tends to be when we put in ok performances (chelsea, watford, forest replay) - the pressure will be all on them.

besides, it'll be th first game i will miss (on match console  ) as the mother-in-law  is over... so it'll be a 0-3 smasher.....

So the best defence in the league is just going to fall apart! ffs. i dont care if u were being sarcastic its a stupid comment.

I think wel get caught pushing for a win, just like yesterday. we see it all the time at leicester, and it will happen tomorow, im going for a 2-1 win for Ipswitch.

We aint got the best defence in the championship now, have we?

Well for some reason our goal difference is +2 and we are hovering above relegation.

I really do want to be positive but I just can't see a win.

Ipswich have been sensational at home this season and we've just been generally poor. I hope Ipswich force us to raise our game else otherwise it's going to be a poor encounter that's only going to go Ipswich's way.

I'm going for 1-0 Ipswich.

You are right.

It is wolves.

Well it was before they conceeded 3 yesterday...

I do recall fans calling for the sacking of a certain Martin O'Neill.

Wonder what would have happened if we had?

Personally would like to see a win, however more importantly is the team performance.

I we play well and and lose then it's not the end of the world.

If we give a poor account of ourselves, then Ollie should point out to the players that let us down that a transfer window is looming.

Either improve or be shipped out.

Im bloody going to this one unfortunately. During the game on saturday i was just thinking how much i dont want to travel to Ipswich! Having said that, i will be in the directors box, so every cloud! Anyone got anything they would like me to ask Milan?

Things aren't all bad... we've only lost once away from home all season.

Our home form is the worst for us... away from home we have 2 wins, 6 draws and 1 loss...

Realistically, until we start to gel and look like a proper team, we will keep drawing, but at least its better than losing all the time... no?

Posted

Probably not a good time to have to travel a way for a midweek game after a few midweek games in the last few weeks and low on confidence, but i guess it doesn't give them much time to dwell on Saturdays result.

We had the best defence in The Championship purely cos when we lose, it's usually only by the odd goal (and the 4-1 thrashing of Watford is still making our GD look special.)

Granted, most of our performances should have resulted in us getting a hammering, but hell, we didn't even get thrashed by Chelsea in the cup... West Brom were all over us for 80 minutes and again, we only lost by a one goal deficit.

I'm going for the same against Ipswich - 1-0 or 2-1... I don't think for a minute we'll win, but there's no way we're gonna get a hammering...

Correct.

I think the main reason for this is Fulop. He is so commanding the majority of the time that we don't find ourselves in the same difficult situations that we did under Henderson or Logan because he will take control of events.

I don't think so, poor finishing from Burnley last week definitely.

The reason is because we have no idea how to go forward. We pass it into midfield, it comes back to defence, so they hoof it forward, no one can win the ball so that is lost but no worries cause we've 11 behind the ball, we won't concede. Very rarely do our full backs get forward, and if they do like on Saturday after we scored and gained some belief - we then get caught out. Why? Because we can't actually defend, we're unable to defend and attempt to attack a team unless the defence have another back four of defenders in front of them.

This isn't a problem away from home, we would never attack as we did after we drew level against WBA, we'd be quite happy drawing at that point, and would do without a problem.

Teams only score against us through a defensive mistake, that loss on concentration by Stearman cost us the goal, it's ridiculous that certain players have that much pressure put on them cause we can't score goals, one mistake usually means a loss by the odd goal. The sad thing is it's been this way for years and no one seems to know how to fix it.

I hope Ollie has identfied at least 3 midfielders for January that can receive a ball from the defence, move and create some space and pass it forwards, no messing out till the end of the month cause at this rate we'll be dead and buried by then, unable to attract anyone.

While I agree with all of the above, I don't think we're any worse at any of that than we were last season. The sole attacking tactic last season was hoofing the ball down the channels for Fryatt, Hume or Hammond to chase. We were atrocious last season and we haven't been as bad this year. I've been to practically every game this season and teams haven't been playing right through our midfield like they did last year. We are more solid in midfield and we have more possession, we just haven't got a clue what to do with it. Last year Hume covered a lot of that up with his form but this season we haven't had anyone perform well in an attacking role.

Well, according to one of the Sunday 'Tabloids' Ollie has a list of players who are dying to come and play for us. Usually, I take this crap with a pinch of salt, and only believe it in the unlikely event that it actually happens, but after his comments after the WBA game (full of encouragement? shocked at losing that game? did he close his eyes for the first 75 minutes, only opening them when he heard the crowd roar into life!) i'm beginning to wonder whether he's wildly optimistic or clinically insane. I like the bloke, but to venture that players would be dying to come and play for us makes absolutely no sense. Christ, half our own players don't seem to wanna play for us these days - why the hell would anybody else's?

Ok. Rant over. Merry Xmas everybody

I'm with you on much of that but I don't think our midfielders have a problem receiving the ball and passing, quite the contrary. Weso, King and Clemence are well able to do that.

The big weakness is in having defenders who by-pass midfield and an additional problem there is that those defenders appear to be strengths in other ways.

The sooner N'Gotty in central defence the happier I'll be.

A second problem in midfield is conncted to what you mention. Because the defenders are actually vulnerable when exposed, we play defensive midfielders. Four out of five Saturday because even Hume was used with defence in mind.

King is our most naturally attacking central midfielder but even he is used in an essentially holding role totally wasting his ability to run late into the box and to play incisive passes.

The big problem for the midfields is having no pacey wingers to feed and no-one in a striking role who is making the challenging runs across defenders or into spaces which those midfielders can exploit.Nor is there any forward drive from central midfield.

As soon as we start to have a back line which plays simple, accurate passes once in possession, the sooner we will start to improve but we need much more movement elsewhere as well.

Why do they do that?

Watching McAuley, in particualr on Saturday it seem to be because no one was making themselves available, on several occasions he looked and moved forward with the ball but there was no outlet no movement the whole of the 5 man midfield was either too far away, too near or too static.

The defenders are the same when Fulop has the ball they stroll out of defence with their backs to the goal Fulop has the ball in the throwing position and you can read his mind as he says of fooking hell and then hoofs it.

The midfield and the forward(s) are as static as well, on the very, very rare occasion that a ball is passed beyond the defender to a winger or forward on the move I stand and cheer as if we'd scored.

Even when we hoof it it's high in the air to a static player and by the time they receive it they have 3 defenders on them.

The whole team look like they are playing statues FFS

Rules of Statues

The game is played by 11 players with 5 substitutes allowed. It's best played at 3.00pm on a Saturday against 11 other players. One player is the Goalkeeper the rest of the players are statues.

A referee and 2 assistants control the game, the referee places a ball on the ground and the game commences.

The object of the game is to get control of the ball and place it in the opposing team’s goal – This must be done without moving.

When players don’t have possession of the ball they can move as much as the like in trying to get possession; as soon as this is achieved they must not move.

They winning team is the team that places the ball in their opponents net the most times.

NB: the team that cheats the most by moving when they have the ball usually achieves this.
