Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 I'm loathed to criticise Laczko or Bori as they seem to want the ball constantly and are definitely eager to impress. So far it hasn't happened but we've seen they have got some really good qualities. Not like Newton or Cort.

Thracian Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Once again Leicester City Reserves lifted the club's spirits with a sometimes sparkling 4-1 win over Wolves at Hinckley with goals by Craig King, Andy King, Riccy Sappleton and a Ryan Beswick penalty falling two in each half. City produced a smattering of breathtaking six and seven man moves and with a midfield of experienced first teamers Wesolowski, Andy King and Kishishev it was hardly surprising. Weso had a dream of a match, all attitude, drive and industry but even he was challenged for Man of the Match by Ryan Beswick who, playing at left back, still scored one goal and had a hand in two others. Leicester took the lead inside five minutes when Beswick drove the ball across to Craig King on the right who sidefooted home with the minimum of fuss. Soon afterwards, Craig's namesake Andy King smashed a first time shot from a similar position to double City's lead and emphasise, once again, his finishing capabilities with what was his second goal in succeessive matches. At this stage the greatest threat to City was the fog although Wolves Ashley Hemmings did race through the Leicester back line to net, only to find his celebrations muted by an offside flag. Fryatt was looking involved and only a fast reaction touch over by Daniel Ireland prevented him heading home a Kishishev cross. An even more dangerous ball by the same player somehow evaded two City raiders at the far post when the goal was gaping. Andy King had further shots either side of half-time, the second from close range after a flowing three-man move. However, it was Wolves who were next to find the net with a bizarre goal. Lee Cox fed goalkeeper Henderson a rather ugly looking back pass but the keeper reached it comfortably enough and had the choice of passing to left-back Beswick or belting it into touch. Inexplicably he seemed to be caught in two minds, grossly underhit his pass and left the ball teed up for Wolves attacker Alex Melbourne who calmly clipped it over Henderson's head and into the vacant net. Wolves joy was shortlived. Riccy Sappleton had returned to action in the second half after a long lay-off with injury and it appeared he might have to go off again as he seemed to be limping quite badly. However, those thoughts disappeared when he latched onto a Beswick through ball, controlled it and turned with all the finesse of a slapstick comic, but made up for everything by unleashing the most terrific shot into the far right hand corner of the net. Sappleton almost grabbed a second with a quick turn and snap shot which was fingertipped wide by the diving Ireland at the end of a wonderful move which had Wesolowski wrongfooting the Wolves defence by letting a pass go through his legs to Lee Cox whose first time cross found the lurking Sappleton who somehow made space where there was very little. Leicester were rampant at this stage and the final goal came when Wesolowski was bundled over on the left edge of the penalty box and Beswick stepped up to send the goalkeeper the wrong way with a perfectly placed and fiercely driven penalty. You had to wonder what happens between reserves and first team to make so many players look so positive in the one and so negative in the other. Class should show in the reserves and Weso wanted everything. He was boss of all that happened in midfield. He drove forward like a man possessed and Andy King was often with him, perhaps not so noticeable or quite so fit but with a steady volley of shots from both right wing and central midfield. Beswick often seems to help good players tick and he was involved in so many City moves down the left, making so many opportunities for people with his seeming refusal to take more than two touches before releasing any pass and often making do with just one. The guy was so simple but so direct and effective, a real players player. Altogether a night of positives all round for City and another 90 minutes of excellent entertainment. RizLCFC Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 Andy King - Great finish from the lad again yesterday for the reserves, he's already shown us that he has the capability of playing first team football for City this season, he should be given a place in our squad for Norwich, bench will do but i think he's good under pressure, able to pass and has a sweet right foot, a also think Fryatt should start or be given much more time if things start to go wrong upfront against Norwich and lastly, Kishishev has had a good run lately aswell, Weso's doin ok, Ollie needs to bite into the reserves a bit more through first team selection, I know he's said we have premiership quality in Clemence/Oakes, but, there not showing that at the moment, lastly SAPPLETON'S BACK LADS - GREAT STRIKE I LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!!!

Simi Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 The lad is a good player, Holloway has mentioned Kish is in contention for Saturday, if I was Andy King I'd be wanting that place. Looking at various reports from the reserves he does deserve a decent shot. Never really put much of a foot wrong when he started under Megson.
