Jay Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 It would be good to get Fulop and Connolly but don't want Fryatt to go, if he gets a run in the team he will prove what he's worth! Connolly left us when we wanted to keep him and went to Wigan Would love Fulop back tho! is 17 starts not a run in the team then because thats what he has made in the league this year and scored 2 goals!! that's one goal every 8 games for a striker that is simply not good enough
Mort Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 is 17 starts not a run in the team then because thats what he has made in the league this year and scored 2 goals!! that's one goal every 8 games for a striker that is simply not good enough Damn right! I've never got the hero-worship Fryatt seems to attract... he's neither a good player to watch nor in any way a prolific goal scorer... all in all i just dont see what there is that recomends him!? Maybe I'm missing somthing but the sooner we get him off the books (perhaps cover our bases with a nice little sell on clause) the better for the club and the player.
Stevosevic Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 is 17 starts not a run in the team then because thats what he has made in the league this year and scored 2 goals!! that's one goal every 8 games for a striker that is simply not good enough Bang on my friend!
filbertboy Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Why would any clubs be thinking seriously about transfer now - loan swap maybe? Besides Sunderland have a good chance of staying up, whatever anyone thinks of Fryatt at Championship level he's certainly not shown he's a Premier player. exactly my feelings DavieG ! No matter what the debate about Fryatt and the championship he simply isn't a Prem player !
Thracian Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 It's interesting hearing how keen some people are to get Fulop. Good goalkeeper no question. But Alnwick's conceded 4 goals in seven games. And I cannot find a better record in seven successive games this season.

Probably because Alnwick's only here on loan with no positive indication that he would be allowed to stay, where as Fulop is at least available to buy.

Exactly. I've been impressed with Alnwick but I would think Spurs would probably want him back at some point TBH.

I find it odd I have to admit, but as I keep saying the lad is still young and has the potential to be a very good player. If this is true (very questionable) obviously Mr Keane thinks the same way. And we all scoffed at him when he went out and signed Kenwyn Jones for stupid money but who had the last laugh?
DB11 Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Won't happen if either of the managers have brains
Jimmy Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 i'd take connolly back anyday. I wouldn't he couldn't wait to fook off to Wigan
Bryn Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 I think Thracian that Alnwick is rated at Tottenham and as such they won't be letting him go permanently just yet. I think he might well be the No. 2 next year cause I reckon Robinson will be off, though it remains to be seen what'll happen to Cerny.
clazkel Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Fryatt is still a young player, he hasn't scored as many goals as he should've but before he was dropped he was playing really well and imo looked a class above the rest of the players. His chance to prove himself is now, as in the past he has been injured. He may not score alot of goals but he creates and holds the ball up well which is something we hadn't been doing lately (until yesterday). Play him behind the front 2 or an attacking midfield role, just because he doesn't score lots of goals doesn't mean he shouldn't be in the team. Connolly is a good player but surely Fryatt has soo much more potential as hes alot younger, and Connolly couldn't wait to leave us when we wanted him to stay! If he goes to Sunderland i think he will come back to haunt us!

Besides if strikers can't score then they are a luxury we simple cannot afford, for far too long we have had so called strikers that couldn't score but were excused because they created chances or were good in the hole, funny that because with all this creation going on we still haven't scored many goals!
Koke Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Fryatt is pants. I understand why some people still have faith in him and believe he'll come good sooner than later. But to me he has shown that he's nothing more than a mediocre Championship player. He might do good if he leaves us and I'll bear no grudges to him whatsoever. If he really wants to leave for a fresh start, then by all means good luck. You have my blessings Mr Fryatt.

But I can't see him being signed by a Premier League club, even on loan.

lavrentis Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Therefore he should not be disposed off, we are currently way worse off than mediocre. But he has had his chance to score goals, his record just says it all really. I can't believe people saying they want Fryatt back in the team thinking he is going to be a completely different player.

Unit Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 NOTW = Football rumours. It's drivvle. NOTW = Mandaric to take over Leicester City.
Staf Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 I think Conolly is decent but i woukd rather have Fryatt although i cant see Sunderland wanting Fryatt in the prem
Candidcamera Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 This a joke ? There is no way we want to lose Matty Fryatt.
