Nath Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 The tackle wasnt that bad. Why people are saying he should be banned for life, is ridiculous. It wasnt even two footed, it was just a lunge, that was unfortunately to late. Freak accident.

Darkzzz_ Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 Yeah all the rivalry a side i did clap hughes off yesterday. I hate to see players getting injured.
Bert Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 Erm, no they wouldn't.Cov player was stretchered off yesterday, after being down for 7 minutes, did we then? No. A few sections did though. I clapped him off, even though we have intense rivalry, no-one wants to see anyone get injured.
FilboFox Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 AAARRGGGHHH!!!! Just seen the pictures on YouTube... its HORRIFIC! Nasty challenge and a terrible break... won't be seeing him on the pitch for a LONG time...
Tevez Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 Exactly. I can think of 5 worse tackles than Martin Taylor's. Agreed, Gerrard on Naysmith was much worse.
Darkzzz_ Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 Gerrard has done a more than his fair share of X-Rated challenges!!
Head Honcho Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 I forsee a lengthy ban for Taylor. Won't he just get the usual ban for a sending off? It was a bad tackle but in no way was it malicious. Taylor will be gutted just as much as the Arsenal players.

Matt Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 They just reported on SSN that Taylor had a word with Wenger in the tunnel after the match explaining how he felt and that there was no malice, e.t.c, Wenger has now retracted his "Taylor should never play again" statement, Taylor has been to Selly Oak hospital twice to visit Eduardo, The 1st time was last night but Taylor could not see Eduardo because he was still under anestetic, Taylor went again this morning and had a lengthy time by Eduardo's bedside and explain how bad and sorry he was. Eduardo has now been transfered to a hospital in London.
Joe. Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 It was just a purely mis-timed and clumsy challenge that's all. I feel sorry for both Taylor and Eduardo. Taylor's clearly distraught with it all and trying to do as much as he can to rectify it. It happens in football unfortunately.
Bert Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 I think when Taylor realised what he'd done, he just couldn't believe it, which is why he was just kind of staring the way he was.
Sparky Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 Unfortunate accident in my opinion , Eduardo was just too quick for him. I fear for the guys career
C-man Posted 25 February 2008 Posted 25 February 2008 Anyone else think it wasn't even a sending off offence? I think the ref was just going to book Taylor, then looked and saw what state Eduardo's leg was in, and sent him off on that basis. Gutted for Eduardo though, could have been a star at the Euro's this year.

Broken leg = endangering the safety of an opponent, serious foul play = red card. I don't know how you can argue with it, it was late, over the top and he's snapped the guy's leg. It just shows the state of the modern game where this is considered 'mistimed' or 'clumsy'. The Birmingham players who've come out & said Arsenal were in a bad mood after it are complete fcuking morons. I wonder how'd they'd feel at seeing one of their teammates and friends suffer an horrific career-threatening injury. Not exactly going to put them in the mood to carry on. During their pathetic rants not one of them has wished Eduardo a speedy recovery, all they're banging on about is arsenal being bitter and how Taylor's unlucky to be sent off and isn't a malicious player etc. etc. Having been playing in a match where one of my teammates suffered a similar injury, I know the game is suddenly totally irrelevant. We abandoned our game, it's impossible to carry on after that. I think the arsenal players deserve a lot of credit for managin to play out the rest of the game after that.

One of the few posters on here to hit the nail on the head. As for the ****** 'who've seen worse challenges' are you asking us to believe that you've actually seen players dismembered? I suggest that you see the VIDEO close up of the Eduardo incident on Youtube (my wife screamed when she saw it) and retract your idotic statements. Unlike Arsene Wenger - he should have stuck to his guns and not caved into the corrupt mandarins at the FA. Twenty years ago that 'foul' (if you can use such a euphemism) would have cost Taylor a six week ban and six weeks wages. His club would probably also have placed him on the transfer list and he would have seen out the rest of his career in the lower leagues with the mark of Cain upon him. On top of that, the police might well have taken an interest and referred the matter to the Crown Prosection Services - many players in the past have done time for far less serious on pitch incidents.

The challenge wasn't that bad (late, ankle (ball) height)!! The outcome was horrific!!
Sods Posted 25 February 2008 Posted 25 February 2008 The challenge wasn't that bad (late, ankle (ball) height)!! The outcome was horrific!! It was a bad challenge but it just went horribly wrong.
dandannieldanok Posted 25 February 2008 Posted 25 February 2008 The challenge wasn't that bad (late, ankle (ball) height)!! The outcome was horrific!! That tackle was not ankle height to begin with, it was completely unneccessary to go in, studs showing, that high onto Eduardo's shin. People say pictures make it look a lot worse when in fact they just show what actually happened. Look at the evidence:

The bottom of his foot is at least half way down the ball, it was just Eduardo nipped it away from him too quickly.
ronnup Posted 25 February 2008 Posted 25 February 2008 Thats ball height. The bottom of his foot is at least half way down the ball, it was just Eduardo nipped it away from him too quickly. that's dangerous. Stoods up, could break someone's le.......... Red card yes. life ban? Don't be daft.
