Darkzzz_ Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 The first two shown I thought 'what's happened there to make it break?' then I saw the last one... Ouch. I certainly wouldn't say it was intentional though. Yeah i thought the same until i seen that last one!! I hate to see injury to any footballer!! I myself have been on the receiving end of a broken leg, i was only 15 the time and cutting out a nice little spell at Kettering Town FC... Until the injury.... i am 22 now and i only just got back to playing after persistent break downs.... I was playing at a fairly decent level in the United Counties League Division 1 up until last November and then bang.... Injury again.... It is a nightmare. My Doc thinks i should stop playing.
Micky Ruddle Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 Check it out on youtube. It's horrific, and disgusting.
Bert Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 Which pic? To be fair there have been worse tackles this season and people have got up from it. Taylor has been unlucky that he must have caught him perfectly and snap. The FA will hopefully make an example of him and ban him for a number of games, otherwise it will just happen again as refs seem to be getting leaner on tackles like this recently He'll just get a 3 match ban because the ref has dealt with it.
Tomassi Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 Straight leg full force tackle above the height of the ball where ball was played he showed intent to go in hard as nails (obviously not to break him! but to make himself known), and i agree with wenger that it was going to happen sooner or later unlucky eduardo! i really hope you can come back
Bert Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 Just look at the Arsenal players faces. Shocking, absolutely shocking. How McFadden and Johnson were trying to protest is beyond me. Well done Gary Lewin too. Always quick to the scene of an injury. Get well soon Eduardo.
Manwell Pablo Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 I just saw a slow-mo on MOTD I feel sick. his foot was hanging off his leg.
Bert Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 It was absolutely disgraceful. Bone nearly came out of the sock. What are these two pundits on about? I think Gallas was more frustrated because he wanted to win it for his team-mate and felt he let him down.
Manwell Pablo Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 Bloody hell. His career could well be over. I mean I dunno if im over reacting but I wonder if his in danger of losing some of the use of his ankle completley.
filbertway Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 I bet if that happened ina Leicester game, the noobish chavs that go to Leicester games would have been singing "let him die let him die let him die"
Bert Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 I bet if that happened ina Leicester game, the noobish chavs that go to Leicester games would have been singing "let him die let him die let him die" Good job it didn't then. Manwell you're right btw.
filbertway Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 Good job it didn't then.Manwell you're right btw. Yip..
TrickyTrev Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 Reckless is a yellow card Danagerous is a red. I've had enough of this malicious/ miss-timed shit. We all know the danger of studs up challenges, this is not the first kind of injury of this kind. Yet we boo players that jump out of the way of these challenges, make macho remarks about footballing cultures that ban them and defend the thugs that make them as 'honest pros.' Wenger is right, "he isn't that kind of player" is horse shit, then why did he make such an unbelievably reckless challenge? Martin Taylor is not the first, but for too long English footballing culture has condoned such incidents as part of the game. The sorts of tackles just don't happen in the rest of the world. We should stop supporting butchers and start supporting creators. My god we have has this coming.
TrickyTrev Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 No it doesnt, it shows Eduardo's slipped the ball past him and Taylors already committed to the challenge. Yes its a bad injury but its an occupational hazard of football, i've lost count of the amount of tackles i've put in where the lads been too quick for me and ive got there a fraction of a second late, sadly for Eduardo this could mean a lengthly spell or even the end of his career, its the risk you take. Prime example of our stupidity. There is never any need to make a studs up challenge, it does not benefit you as a tackler and has potentially horrendous consequences for the (skilled) player that you are nailing. When will we English realise that just because we have always kicked the shit out of each other on the pitch does not mean we should carrying on doing so.
Chandler Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 The facts of football life (for all you innocent 'found under a cabbage leaf' footie fans): When a player goes up for a header with his elbows at shoulder height (wearing an expression more appropriate for a stroll in the park) he is not doing this 'to gain greater elevation' or 'to improve his balance.' He is doing this to either ( a ) blind or ( b ) break the cheek or jaw of the unsuspecting opponent rash enough to jump with him. And when a player going in for a slide tackle just happens to wrap his trailing leg around his hapless victim's ankle (all the while looking like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth) he does not do this because 'his momentum is unstoppable.' He does this to wrench the relevant joint of his adversary out of its socket. And when a player with a 'good disciplinary record' catches another in full flight with his studs, from a standing position, the 'unfortunate' contact is neither 'accidental' nor a 'mistimed'/'late' tackle. It is, at the moment of commission a deliberate attempt to cripple, maim and destroy another player's career (no matter how remorseful the culprit may appear later). Make no mistake, the career of one Eduardo da Silva, one of the Premier League's greatest talents is now effectively over. The fact that his life is in ruins is due in part to ****wit pundits like Alan Hansen and Mark Lawrenson (yes they even had the audacity to describe Taylor's 'tackle' as 'mistimed' on MOTD) who lack the moral courage to condemn the REAL simulation that is spreading like a cancer throughout our game. And this is NOT the simulation of players who feign fouls or injury. It is the simulation of players who have mastered the dark Sardinian art of making premeditated career threatening, even life threatening challenges (remember Kevin Hunt on Petr Cech?) appear accidental. It is quite evident from the majority of posts on the Eduardo incident that few on this forum are aware of this semi secret culture in football. Worse, the vast majority of those in positions of responsibility in the game who are supposed to have their fingers on the sport's pulse also appear to be blissfully ignorant of the 'assassin's craft.' Well, they better wise up pdq and start issuing six figure fines and season long bans to maimers like Hunt and Taylor or else we'll soon be witnessing rigor mortis and not just plain old boring ankle severing on our pitches.
DB11 Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 Danagerous is a red. Careless = Just a foul Reckless = Yellow Card Excessive Force = Red Card Thanks
Tomassi Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 I agree with Bert, the pundits were atroicious in their analysis last night Would you feel 100% mentally focussed on a football match after seeing one of your own go through something so horrific on a football scale? He was just being human!
Father Ted Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 I hate arsenal.... I like Eduardo, good player, i really feel for him a lot... It doesn't seem he will play again really does it but i suppose you just never know at all. I think Taylor is going for the ball, but having said that it is a awfull challenge, he is showing his studs and they are right on his shin.Take a look at this, his face says it all. http://www.footytube.com/ It's hanging off
lcfc_jme Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 Sickening. I was saying yesterday that it would suprise me if he went back to walking 100% normally after this, never mind playing football again. His foot looks like his sock is the only thing keeping it attached to his leg. Nasty, nasty stuff. It's a shame really 'cos the guy's a class act and most certainly had a bright future ahead of him. Whether Taylor intended it or not, the tackle wasn't too clever, was it? Studs so blatantly showing, definitely had added force, and his foot way over the top of where the ball would have been. This has certainly been an accident waiting to happen, but I doubt that this will encourage any action from the powers that be, or whether it will deter others from the same kind of reckless idiocy displayed by Taylor yesterday. All the best, Eduardo.
Nath Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 I bet if that happened ina Leicester game, the noobish chavs that go to Leicester games would have been singing "let him die let him die let him die" Erm, no they wouldn't. Cov player was stretchered off yesterday, after being down for 7 minutes, did we then? No.
Matt Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 Erm, no they wouldn't.Cov player was stretchered off yesterday, after being down for 7 minutes, did we then? No. Infact some/most clapped him off didn't they?!
Stevosevic Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 Infact some/most clapped him off didn't they?! I did, and so did everyone else around me.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 Erm, no they wouldn't.Cov player was stretchered off yesterday, after being down for 7 minutes, did we then? No. They did for a challenge later on in the game but it wasnt a serious injury so it wasnt too bad. Seeing the reaction of the players on MOTD being so worried made me thing of Clive Clarke incedent
Uncle Albert Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 Was a very poor tackle by Taylor, Eduardo was to quick for him i thinks. The player who got stretchered off yesterday, i clapped him off. You never want to see players leaving on a stretcher.
